You Love the Family |
Your family may not be perfect, but you love spending time with them. The holidays are important to you. You are sentimental, and your emotions are very deep. You like remembering old times and making new memories.
You look forward to Thanksgiving every year because it's one of the few times the whole family is together. You love catching up with everyone and simply just being together. There's no substitute for family. |

Fame and Humility
November 23, 2016
He humbled himself by becoming obedient to deatheven death on a cross!
Philippians 2:8
Many of us are obsessed with fameeither with being famous ourselves or with following every detail of famous peoples lives. International book or film tours. Late-night show appearances. Millions of followers on Twitter.
In a recent study in the US, researchers ranked the names of famous individuals using a specially developed algorithm that scoured the Internet. Jesus topped the list as the most famous person in history.
Yet Jesus was never concerned about obtaining celebrity status. When He was here on earth, He never sought fame (Matt. 9:30; John 6:15)although fame found Him all the same as news about Him quickly traveled throughout the region of Galilee (Mark 1:28; Luke 4:37).
Wherever Jesus went, crowds soon gathered. The miracles He performed drew people to Him. But when they tried to make Him a king by force, He slipped away by Himself (John 6:15). United in purpose with His Father, He repeatedly deferred to the Fathers will and timing (4:34; 8:29; 12:23). He humbled himself by becoming obedient to deatheven death on a cross (Phil. 2:8).
Fame was never Jesuss goal. His purpose was simple. As the Son of God, He humbly, obediently, and voluntarily offered Himself as the sacrifice for our sins.
You are to be celebrated, Lord, above all others. You have been highly exalted and given a name that is above every name. One day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that You are Lord.
Jesus came not to be famous, but to humbly offer Himself as the sacrifice for our sins.
In todays reading, we see Pauls eloquent treatment of how God became human. Jesus Christ had the attributes of God yet took on human flesh to become a servant. This self-sacrificial mission found its ultimate expression in Jesuss death on the cross to provide salvation for all who believe in Him as Savior and Lord. C. S. Lewis wrote, The Son of God became man so that men might become sons of God.

You Love Food |
Thanksgiving is all about the food for you. You love indulging on this special day. It's likely that you spend weeks planning what you're going to cook, and you love tasting other people's creations.
You love all types of Thanksgiving food. Traditional, modern, ethnic... it's all good in your book. You'll go for seconds or thirds when it's time for pie. You figure you'll work off all those calories at the mall the next day. |

I am making up for all the decades we were on different continents. :)
But aside from the family it has to be the left over dinner rolls with turkey, a scoop of stuffing and cranberry sauce.
Mmmmmm left overs....

This actually reminds me of a story about my now-deceased younger brother: I do not know how it happened but my younger brother was a redneck through-and-through. He lived in Houston for a few years. When he first moved here I thought that I should take him to a fine restaurant to show him that there were better things in life than redneckery.
I took him to what was at the time the finest restaurant in Houston named, "The Brownstone". It was so exclusive that if you did not make a reservation you could not get in.
We were seated at the bar by the hostess. We ordered a before-dinner drink. The waiter came to the table to seat us at our table.
We sat at the table and at the time both of us smoked. As soon as an ash got into the ashtray there was a waiter to wipe it clean.
We had an appetizer, salad and I ordered the melt-in-your-mouth Chateaubriand.
After dinner they brought around the dessert cart. I thought that that might impress him but he did not seem to care.
We ordered an after dinner drink and coffee.
Here is the killer: While we were sipping our after-dinner drink and coffee I asked him, "Well, what do you think?"
His very matter-of-fact response: Well, it was good but I just as soon be at home eatin' a baloney, ( His pronunciation, not mine, ) sandwich."
At that point I threw up my hands and told myself that it was useless. He would forever be a redneck!
You Love Relaxation |
You truly enjoy Thanksgiving, and you like to take time to savor it. You take it easy. You like to be lazy, and you don't mind just hanging out on the couch for most of the day.
You're not the type to cook a big Thanksgiving dinner, but that doesn't mean you don't appreciate one. You wish every day could be centered around good food, good company, and good entertainment. |
