The office was vacant for two years after Jocelyn Elders. That told me we don’t need a surgeon general.
Carson is retired, he is inconsistent, and has no real managerial experience. A safe position where he won’t embarrass Trump or himself would be Surgeon General, else make him an ambassador to some out of the way place. Find him a role, yes, but with minimal risk to him or Trump.
I like the idea of Carson because of his back ground in being disciplined into education by a mother who couldn't read. And I think he might resonate with minorities.
- just a thought.
Amen. On again, off again will NOT endear him to a decision maker like Trump.
I think I remember that, Feb. debate? Los Tres Amigos, Yeb, Marco and Cruz were smirking because Carson missed his cue, while Trump helped him out.
Like a lot of us I was still watching and judging but had pretty much decided Trump was the guy by that point. Believe that little incident may have clinched it for me.
He needs to be brought in. He’s too fine a human being to be left out.
I hope he gets something that he can step up from in a future run for office.
If Trump has any inclination of slimming it way down, or eliminating it entirely, it seems Arnn is his man for the job.
I know he is not a fan. He will dismantle it. But I think as Sec Ed, he can do a lot to prevent the liberal textbooks, and get the governors to takes steps on how to return American education to one of the world’s best.
I would like him to be at HHS if that is a post which would help in the dismantling of Obamacare. He knows what medical insurance needs.
Ben Carson would be a terrific Surgeon General. He has a mind that seeks the root causes and how to eliminate them.
Definitely!
Entirely disagree. IMHO, there are CPUs, and there are printers. Politicians tend to be printers, high quality color printers with high definition, but the CPUs that are directing what they print are often not so impressive. Conversely, there are non-politicians (like Carson) who have good CPUs, and a good understanding of what needs to be done, but who don't have especially good printers, and thus what the public sees from them is not always that refined. I personally think he'd be perfect as the head of heath and human services.
We need him to help replace Obamacare with Trumpcare! He could help to make it work. If Trump could fix this boondoggle he will have won his place in the history books.
I’m holding out hope for Dr. Carson on Health and Human Services.
“Dont put him in charge of anything. He should just offer advice”
Agree. Seems that is where his ‘heart’ is, an advisor.IMO
His flip-flopping could be the very reason that Trump passes him over for any position. Trump wants decisive people he can count on, not some person ruled by emotions.
Carson should go back into the medical business.
Carson is too nice of a guy for politics.
It’s why he tells everyone he talks to what they want to hear. He never wants to hurt anyone’s feelings.
No balls. Pass. Just go be a nice guy and just do nice things for people.
Actually, he would be better suited to head a commission to sort out the various existing Republican health care options and craft a bill that can pass both the House and the Senate.
Stage fright.A quick story: the Medical Director of the department in which I worked received his BS from Harvard University, his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and his PhD from MIT.*Not* a stupid guy.He once told me that before speaking before groups he'd take a small dose of a beta blocker to help him through (google "beta blocker" and "performance anxiety" for info). As I said:stage fright.
Nice guy but reached his Peter principle pinnacle as a surgeon
Among the many things I learned during 20+ years at the hospital I mentioned earlier is that "Peter Principle" physicians and surgeons don't last long (at *all*) at places like Hopkins.
Get rid of the Dept of Education!
