Hidden Ipsos Poll: Public Strongly Backs Donald Trump’s Plan To ‘Pause’ Legal Immigration

A just-released poll shows that Donald Trump’s campaign-trail immigration and labor policies have overwhelming public support, and strong opposition from just one-sixth of voters. 

The Ipsos poll shows that only about one-in-six Americans strongly oppose Trump’s policies towards immigrant labor, repatriations, sanctuary cities, Islamic migrants, employer oversight and his ground-breaking proposal to reduce legal immigration.

Any child an take a phone to the border and watch the illegals cross over. No one is stopping them and nothing happens to them after they succeed, in fact there are free services that are heaped upon them. Who wouldn't want to illegally cross the border? Do they not realize if you incentivize people to bring their illegal kids here because they know they’ll get amnesty for them, you’ll get more of the illegal immigration you’re trying to stop?

I am 1,000% in favor of this. Immigration to this country, legal and otherwise, has been off the charts for far too long.

I would recommend closing the door completely for at least half a century, in order to properly assimilate the tens of millions of legal immigrants we have here now,

Are we arguing? It sounds to me this is apples and oranges, race versus racial identity which you introduced and has nothing whatsoever to do with what I was talking about originally. I could be wrong. If so, my apologies -- I'm wrong. My point was very simply that the white population is larger than what the Dem media would have us believe and cited a well-established and agreed-upon number of around 61%. You can't please everyone, but perhaps I should have gone into greater detail, drawn a graph or something explaining how this number was derived from the self-proclaimed. They self-identify as white non-Hispanic. As for brown Spaniards and white Mexicans or pink Irishmen, these complications you introduced are a moot point. The material point is these race demographics are based on self-proclaimed racial identity. No one is running around taking DNA (yet) at the census or on government forms. Around 61% of Americans self-identify as non-Hispanic white and that is what we have to go on and it's a whole lot higher than the media would have us believe. That's all I said. I agree with you that the number is probably higher. I myself have self-identified as native American more than once as I'm every bit as native American as Eastern European and English, I can assure you. I eventually just decided I'm non-Hispanic white because I look it and moved on. The only argument I had with your graphs is that although I agree the number is probably higher, it's not bankable in a discussion -- hence the belaboring of this discussion now -- and I was not interested in including Hispanics in the number cited as Hispanics are being included in the Dems necessary minority coalition. The Dems are claiming them -- fine for the purpose of my very simple statement. 61% is a bankable minimum number of whites and far more than the Dems would have us believe, that's why I used it instead of any of a number of higher, muddier numbers.

I have not seen a number as high as above 70% white non-Hispanic although I did hear Rush Limbaugh state this. I dared doubt Rush because it sounded way too high. I looked it up and couldn’t find it so quoted the lower number here. Would be interested in seeing that 70% number. Where’d you find that? My numbers are from 2014, I believe.
