Victor Davis Hanson: Russian spy? Who would have suspected that one of America's leading conservative intellectuals, a prominent historian who is currently a Senior Fellow at Stanford's Hoover Institution, was selling us out to the Russkies?
Actually, no one would suspect it because it isn't true. But on today's AM Joy, MSNBC terrorism expert Malcolm Nance bragged: "I know some of the spy-catchers in FBI counter-intelligence, guys who have taken down big names, like Aldrich Ames and Victor Davis Hanson." Nance presumably had in mind Robert Philip Hanssen, a former FBI agent who was convicted in 2001 of spying for the Soviet Union and later the Russians.

MSNBC ‘expert’ says FBI spy catchers took down . . . conservative intellectual star Victor Davis Hanson!
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
“Its what you ‘know’ that just ain’t so” that has me worried.
Idiot! Consider the source — MSNBC
Affirmative action expert.
What a dimwit.
Just think of it as affirmative action in action.
Ditz.
He must have posted on that Russian site Wikipedia.
AFAIK, VDH is classical scholar and fruit farmer in Fresno.
Typical deep cover for a Russian mole ;-)
Geez! Some expert. They need to correct this. Boneheads.
THAT is a terrorism expert???
Democrats don’t have to get it right, because they’ll never be called to account by what they say that is wrong.
They just spew it out there, and it remains out there.
Victor Davis Hanson should take note and demand a retraction.
” theyll never be called to account by what they say that is wrong”
Except by us :-)
To be fair he may have misspoken. And even if he didn’t, idiots are regularly promoted above their station in a world where the mis-educated are mistaken for elite. I would say it’s less about “diversity” politics and just par for the course.
If I were VDH, I’d be quickly looking to find a lawyer to sue this so called ‘expert’. An on air apology and a handsome cheque to pay for the slanderous comment.
I checked his credentials. Would really be down the list if I was seeking a terrorism expert.
“To be fair he may have misspoken.”
Agreed. As I wrote in the original article:
“Nance presumably had in mind Robert Philip Hanssen, a former FBI agent who was convicted in 2001 of spying for the Soviet Union and later the Russians. Well call this one an innocent mistake by MSNBCs expert, but interesting that it came at the expense of a leading conservative.”
