Megyn Kelly Emerges As Weak Link as CNN Beats Fox News In Key Demos for First Time Since 2001

Megyn Kelly of the Fox News Channel has emerged as that network’s weak link as Fox has fallen behind CNN in the ratings for a full month for the first time since 2001. The October ratings are out and CNN beat Fox News for the first time in 15 years.

“CNN enjoyed its strongest ratings month in years in October, beating rival Fox News in the key 25-54 demographic for a full month for the first time since 2001,” The Hill’s Joe Concha wrote. “CNN averaged 704,000 prime time viewers overall in October from the ages 25-54 demographic — the most coveted group by advertisers. Fox came in second with an average of 663,000 viewers, while MSNBC averaged 432,000 viewers — an all-time high for the Comcast-owned network.”

While Kelly’s own program still finished atop cable news in the key 25-54 demographic for the month, CNN beating Fox News overall in primetime in the demo for the first time in over a decade comes as Kelly has emerged as the face as of the network thanks to the honchos in the Murdoch family.

Rupert Murdoch’s sons James and Lachlan, who have taken over 21st Century Fox, have decided—according to a Vanity Fair profile earlier in October—make Kelly the future of the network. And as they’ve rallied entirely behind Kelly, after Kelly made a move to oust Roger Ailes as the chairman of the company

Kelly has also emerged as the network’s leading anti-Donald Trump voice, using her platform to try to disparage the Republican presidential nominee and his supporters. The highest profile spat, which came last week, was a battle she had with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich over former President Bill Clinton’s alleged sexual assaults and alleged rapes.

I read $20 mil someplace (here I think).

If it’s down to $12 mil...I’m tickled pink.

Still too much though.

I agree with you. Quit watching Fox News for post-debate coverage (unless Hannity is covering) and switched to Fox Biz channel - much better as it’s usually Varney and/or Lou Dobbs. Like both of their daily shows.

We watch Fox Business News with Lou Dobbs in the Kelly slot. I like Lou. He makes no bones about being a Trumpster. His guests are not “balanced and fair”, they are tilted to our side completely.

Well, got say this. Ever since the kerfuffle between MeAgain and Trump, the only show I watch on Faux Snooze is Fox & Friends.

Fox Business' Lou Dobbs is the best show on cable right now.

Good option I never thought of. Although I did catch that show hosted by Kennedy and thought I was on MSNBC.

Megyn Kelly is a shrill feminazi with daddy issues. She’s not the sharpest life in the drawer and has ruined her looks. I expect her to fade away to a second tier at MSNBC in the near future.

Yeah, Lou Dobbs is a refreshing alternative on Fox Business News.

Her childish demeanor bugged me even before she outed herself at the debate and got a lesbian hairdo.

Megyn out snarks Rachel. She acts like she smokes crack right before going on air. I watch Fox before and after Megyn. But at 9 PM, I now watch Anderson Cooper.

I watch more Fox Business Channel now than I do Fox News due to Megyn, Bret, Brit, Gutfeld, Perino, Stirewalt, and Shep. Unfortunately, they have Kennedy on at the same time as Megyn Kelly and Kennedy is another snarky anti-Trumper so no Fox channel gets my viewership for that hour.

Same here. You nailed it about Kennedy. Heard her last week say on her show that she wasn't voting for Trump and a guest said the same.

The Murdoch kids have finally, fully taken over and we are seeing early signs of the results. Fox will turn into another “mainstream” network and will fall back in the pack.

I'm waiting for them to rein in Fox Business. FBN has just beaten CNBC in the ratings and it's because the channel has been pro-free market and it's hosts (with the exception of Kennedy and maybe Cavuto) have been unashamedly been for Trump.

Holy frijoles.

Although if her own show is still leading the demo I’m not sure how you can specifically tie it to her.

More than likely though, the shift more to the left is to blame.

I’d still watch it before CNN.

But I quit regularly watching it a long while ago.

If they follow though with plans to go even further left they will decimate their viewership.

Same here, unless it is Hannity I turn FNC off, got to Fox Business or go to another channel. I wish Direct offered OAN.

FNC has gone native for WashingtonDC/NYC and not to be trusted with anything they report at this point. They do not represent America but the liberal big cities and that narrow minded point of view-—pass...

I find Cavuto to play Devil’s Advocate occasionally, and he is rarely pro-Trump but at least he is never pro-Hillary. He doesn’t make me change channels.

Besides, she stabbed Cruz in the back too if you recall:

Megyn Kelly to Ted Cruz: ‘The record supports you’ [only after audience sleeps]

[With moderators like these — who needs enemies?]

After the Fox News-Google debate Megyn Kelly interviewed Ted Cruz. [7:40 Video begins with a 1:00 clip of the earlier debate] Kelly continued to pursue the “amnesty” angle that she’d begun during the debate [starting at 3:41] - about his history on illegals, immigration and amnesty, but concedes:

Kelly: “I look at your record, a lot, to see: Did Ted Cruz really want legalization, or didn’t he?” “I think the record supports you - that you did not want it; it does.”

“It really was a poison pill amendment.” Then there is back and forth where Kelly states that Cruz...
