Billionaire U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Thursday he does not want the $400,000 annual salary that comes with the White House job and would turn it down if elected.
Trump, the front-runner for the Republican nomination in the 2016 race despite having no political experience, was asked at a town hall-style meeting in Rochester, New Hampshire, if, as president, he would roll back generous pension and healthcare benefits given to members of Congress.

If he'd get rid of the deadwood and deadbeats in government, that would be GREAT!

Many charities would be glad to receive his salary donation.
The Salvation Army would do the most good.

Arnold did the same thing when elected governor of California. Nice gesture..
To: LUV W
Its a nice gesture but the White House budget is around 1.5 billion per year. A big chunk of that is running the Air Force 1 fleet but there is plenty to cut for sure. Michelle Obama’s staff alone is a record breaker at the moment.

Not being overconfident by any means considering the large spectre of Democrat cheating at an epic scale this year, but you can feel the momentum all on Trump’s side now.

Even without a raise, she’ll find a way to steal half the furnishings and probably fence them this time to foreign kings and mullahs!

The salary probably creates nightmares for his tax accountants so it is cheaper not to take it.
To: JudyinCanada
If he does give it to charity, then it’s awful a poor gesture: taxpayers would still be paying. What he chooses to do with his money is one thing; refusing to take mine for those purposes is different.
