Federal agencies will begin rejecting Pennsylvania driver's licenses and photo IDs as official forms of identification on Jan. 30 unless the state comes into compliance with a national law that sets standards for state-issued IDs.

I know there are states that issue drivers licenses to illegals but I doubt those licenses are REAL ID.
Your old license is punched and you are given a temporary renewal to keep with the old license to use until your new license arrives.
I've heard all sorts of rumors about what the new license contains-gps chips mainly, but they look pretty routine to me. They're a different color now and I guess that they've put a bunch of anti counterfeiting stuff in them-holograms and such but nothing that you'd look at and say "what in the he11..?"
What did surprise me was that they made a mistake on some of the personal info and they actually took the time to correct their records rather than just trashing the whole thing and starting over.
Maybe they do want me to have that particular license.

In California and I’ll be other states too, the ID you get as an illegal immigrant is exactly same thing as a driver’s license, except it isn’t a driver’s license, can’t be used for that. It can be used as an ID.
You mention a consular card, but what did they have to provide as an illegal to get that? Illegals don’t come here with papers. LOL
There’s a disconnect on this. These IDs are intended to get us in line, not the illegals.
These IDs help them sign up for insurance and other things that require an ID, and this ID is in the proper format to be accepted by the federal government.

Almost exactly the same except for the Star in the upper left hand corner. I have one.
As the story said without the REAL ID you cannot do many things including boarding an aircraft.
The Consular card is issued to US citizens who were born abroad. It functions as a birth certificate. My step son has one since he was born at Ramstein AFB in Germany.
It amazes me that conservatives are so demanding that illegals and non-citizens are not treated like citizens but then are so demanding that they, citizens, do not have to prove they are citizens. You can have it one way or the other. Not both.

It appears that your complaint is that California hasn’t yet implemented REAL ID. An identity card cannot be mistaken for a REAL ID. They are not identical.

I've a DL..a SS card...a professional medical license..Freaking 40 plus tax returns... A work history...A mother and father's copy of their BIRTH CERTIFICATES...a copy of mine!!

In order to get a “REAL ID” you’ll have to take three or four pieces of paper to the DMV the next time you renew. I promise you, it’s not difficult. Once REAL ID is implemented, it will be very easy to determine who is and who isn’t a citizen. Now, whether the politicians will do anything about that is another issue.

Really, you seem to be the one who doesn’t comprehend the difference between a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, a form used to prove citizenship for the children of citizens born abroad and the Mexican consulate cards which cannot be used to obtain a REAL ID.
I’m as upset as you are about the way politicians have corrupted the system to issue drivers licenses to illegal aliens but that is a separate issue from REAL ID.
Will politicians ensure that illegals can get some form of ID including a drivers license? Of course they will. But whatever they do issue will not be REAL ID and it will not get them into the places (like a plane) that a REAL ID will.
If you have REAL ID, then you have proven your citizenship and your identity. If you want to get rid of the illegals, then you’ll have to do a couple of things. Elect Trump and implement some form of citizenship ID.
