A school has been criticised after punishing a whole cheerleading squad after a male student said he was distracted by their short skirts.
The student at Timpview High School had impure thoughts after seeing the squad in their uniforms, People reports, and so his mother wrote to the school and complained.
After the formal complaint was made, rather than helping the male student to deal with the thoughts, the Utah schools administrators appear to have punished the whole cheerleading squad.
Administrators told the cheerleading coach at the school, who told the 44-strong cheerleading squad that they should not wear their uniforms on match day.
One cheerleader told Fox 13 that she thought the school was almost supporting a rape culture.
Another of the squad told People: Its giving this boy power that when he grows up and does something to a girl, he can blame it on her skirt being too short.
It really made me angry. Why should this boy have control over what we wear?
But the school district has denied that the squad was told not to wear their uniforms.
A spokesperson for the Provo School District told Fox 13 that was not the case, but People reports that the administration is attempting to find out exactly what the cheerleaders were told.
One of the cheerleaders parents said: I was shocked when my daughter came home and told me, We cant wear our uniforms on game day. Theyre giving boys dirty thoughts.
I want the school to have a meeting with all of the cheerleaders and all of the parents, and I want our girls to walk out of that meeting with their heads held high. This boys problem has nothing to do with them.
Yep... that’s what cheerleaders are supposed to look like. I tend to cheer when there’s a reason to cheer, so cheerleaders really aren’t needed for me. But.. since they’re there... who doesn’t appreciate beauty... especially when you’re high school age?
That is Utah for you. A few years ago #pornshoulders was a big thing there - meaning showing your shoulders. A court clerk was sent home for it (it did not violate the dress code but made the Mormon judge uncomfortable because it violated Mormon ‘chastity’ standards.
Then last year a Utah High School airbrushed shirt sleeves on all photos of girls (not guys) who showed their shoulders.
This does not surprise me at all.
It never occurred to me to complain...especially to my mother...or anyone, for that matter.
I did kick myself, from time to time, if I neglected to bring binoculars. Great Caesar's Ghost! The designers off those uniforms and leotards knew a thing or two about what works.
Is this "student" a gay Moslem...or what?
Cut his nuts off until he grows up...

“Timpview High School”?
I could see if it was “Qu!mview High School” or something.
Not Muzzie, Mormon
Culture of late teaches young boys not only to think with their dicks, but also to act with their dicks and BE dicks. It also teaches young ladies to offer themselves as wide open to insertion of everything but class and common sense.
Wrong. Mormon not Muzzie
This is legit. I know someone whose son goes to that school.
“who doesnt appreciate beauty... especially when youre high school age”
I did even though I stupidly took it for granted. Late ‘60s, miniskirts, beautiful SoCal coeds. No wonder I couldn’t concentrate.
Wrong. Its legit. I know the mother of one of the students, his GF is a cheerleader. This is typical Mormon culture.
Exactly. Heterosexuality is healthy.
That’s a bunch of crap.
//there is something more going on with this that is not being reported....what it is I dont know. but I just cant imagine the school even giving lip service to the parent unless there is more to the story.//
Nope. This is it. It is Provo. This stuff happens. Google “Porn Shoulders” and one HS last year airbrushed sleeves on girls photos for yearbook so not to appear ‘immodest’. This is very typical of Utah Mormon culture.
Mormon not Muzzie.
Yes it is. Google Porn Shoulders
Impure thoughts? You know you are in the year 2016, right? Stupid kid...
Provo, Utah.
What the hell is wrong with this country that a teenage boy is upset about seeing a bunch of cheerleaders in short skirts? Recalling my youth, I cannot think of a single guy that I know who would have done anything other than shut up and enjoy the show.
