Text of Ted’s statement posted to fb:

This election is unlike any other in our nation’s history. Like many other voters, I have struggled to determine the right course of action in this general election.

In Cleveland, I urged voters, “please, don’t stay home in November. Stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket whom you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution.”

After many months of careful consideration, of prayer and searching my own conscience, I have decided that on Election Day, I will vote for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.

I’ve made this decision for two reasons. First, last year, I promised to support the Republican nominee. And I intend to keep my word.

Second, even though I have had areas of significant disagreement with our nominee, by any measure Hillary Clinton is wholly unacceptable — that’s why I have always been #NeverHillary.

Six key policy differences inform my decision. First, and most important, the Supreme Court. For anyone concerned about the Bill of Rights — free speech, religious liberty, the Second Amendment — the Court hangs in the balance. I have spent my professional career fighting before the Court to defend the Constitution. We are only one justice away from losing our most basic rights, and the next president will appoint as many as four new justices. We know, without a doubt, that every Clinton appointee would be a left-wing ideologue. Trump, in contrast, has promised to appoint justices “in the mold of Scalia.”

For some time, I have been seeking greater specificity on this issue, and today the Trump campaign provided that, releasing a very strong list of potential Supreme Court nominees — including Sen. Mike Lee, who would make an extraordinary justice — and making an explicit commitment to nominate only from that list. This commitment matters, and it provides a serious reason for voters to choose to support Trump.

Second, Obamacare. The failed healthcare law is hurting millions of Americans. If Republicans hold Congress, leadership has committed to passing legislation repealing Obamacare. Clinton, we know beyond a shadow of doubt, would veto that legislation. Trump has said he would sign it.

Third, energy. Clinton would continue the Obama administration’s war on coal and relentless efforts to crush the oil and gas industry. Trump has said he will reduce regulations and allow the blossoming American energy renaissance to create millions of new high-paying jobs.

Fourth, immigration. Clinton would continue and even expand President Obama’s lawless executive amnesty. Trump has promised that he would revoke those illegal executive orders.

Fifth, national security. Clinton would continue the Obama administration’s willful blindness to radical Islamic terrorism. She would continue importing Middle Eastern refugees whom the FBI cannot vet to make sure they are not terrorists. Trump has promised to stop the deluge of unvetted refugees.

Sixth, Internet freedom. Clinton supports Obama’s plan to hand over control of the Internet to an international community of stakeholders, including Russia, China, and Iran. Just this week, Trump came out strongly against that plan, and in support of free speech online.

These are six vital issues where the candidates’ positions present a clear choice for the American people.

If Clinton wins, we know — with 100% certainty — that she would deliver on her left-wing promises, with devastating results for our country.

My conscience tells me I must do whatever I can to stop that.

We also have seen, over the past few weeks and months, a Trump campaign focusing more and more on freedom — including emphasizing school choice and the power of economic growth to lift African-Americans and Hispanics to prosperity.

Finally, after eight years of a lawless Obama administration, targeting and persecuting those disfavored by the administration, fidelity to the rule of law has never been more important.

The Supreme Court will be critical in preserving the rule of law. And, if the next administration fails to honor the Constitution and Bill of Rights, then I hope that Republicans and Democrats will stand united in protecting our fundamental liberties.

Our country is in crisis. Hillary Clinton is manifestly unfit to be president, and her policies would harm millions of Americans. And Donald Trump is the only thing standing in her way.

A year ago, I pledged to endorse the Republican nominee, and I am honoring that commitment. And if you don’t want to see a Hillary Clinton presidency, I encourage you to vote for him.

"I’ve made this decision for two reasons." LIE!

The ONLY reason he's supporting Trump is he can see that Trump is going to win, and he doesn't want to be totally left out. If he courage and integrity he would have made the same decision a the RNC. Instead, at the RNC he "hedge his bet".

Sounds like an endorsement of Trump to me by Cruz.

Every endorsement and vote will help keep the commie Mrs. Bill Clinton out of the WH and put Donald J. Trump in.

Good for Cruz.

Go Trump!

the more Tead talks about having to pray about it, think about it, spend sleepless nights over it, stare at sunsets, remember his old aunt Nagness, talk to the dog about it, listen to guys in the barber shop about it, lift his damp finger into the wind about it...

...the more I realize how mentally deficient this guy really is

It’s a no brainer. Trump has a list of things we have wanted for decades, and Hillary has a list of things we have not wanted in our or anyone else lifetime.

It took me a matter of days to fall in behind Trump.

It took Tead close to a year and a half.

Well Tead, thanks a lot pumpkin.

How exactly did you, Ted Cruz, significantly disagree with our nominee? And if you have "struggled to determine the right course of action" you were an idiot and NOT "like many other voters". We've been on the Trump Train or effortlessly jumped on it after you let us down, without a whimper of a struggle.

I don’t see anything in what Cruz stated as “new” that he couldn’t have done this at Convention. Everything he wrote about Hillary we already knew and so did he...everything Trump has stated had already been stated as well...so what changed?

I believe it took this much time for Ted to get over his loss and whatever he and Trump had going on between them......it shoud’nt have.

On the other hand Trump showed Ted he really didn’t need him to get the win having gone this far to the finish line under his own steam....so good on Trump!

It sure takes Ted Cruz a long time to keep his word.

Donald Trump has been saying the very same things that Cruz has been wanting since the beginning of his campaign, but Cruz refused to believe Trump was telling the truth, calling him a, “con man,” “a pathological liar,” “a sniveling coward,” and “a danger to this country.”

I’ve got no use for Ted Cruz, I think he’s just trying to save his political hide, because the RNC has said to get on board or else.

Excellent statement by Cruz.

I didn’t realize so many had a deadline on his support.

Knowing full well the election isn’t until November 8th.

Oh ye of little faith.

What fair weather Republicans that eat their own around here.

The only thing that bothers me about the Cruz statement today is that all the items he listed were true the night he made his convention speech. I am willing to forgive and in time shall forget. I also to this day believe he never would have gotten close to the White House as President this election cycle. I was with Ted until late last fall. He would have been hammered with the Canadian issue to know end. Trump was indeed right on that. We finally have a candidate tough enough to take on the DNC...something I do not think many of us could have imagined even a year ago.

Someone actually posts the full quote?

And it was left to our busy forum founder.

The weasel sat out for two months since Trumps nomination at the RNC, holding back until he could see which way the wind was blowing nationally.

His endorsement is too little too late. Like a self-serving general holding his forces back until the outcome has almost been decided.

Will he release his much vaunted ground troops to do the daily door to door knocking in critical battleground districts?

If not, then this is merely the gesture of undisciplined dog groveling to get his next meal and a warm bed. You know he'll turn on you first chance he gets if he senses an advantages.

I think a lot of these “never Trumpers” have been holding out, hoping against hope that Trump would fall apart so they could say “We told you so!”

But now that Trump is nearing 270 with all the momentum of a runaway freight train, they are realizing that if they don’t get on board, they are going to be tossed under the wheels. For some it is clearly too late. Perhaps for all.

I jumped on board right after Trump clinched it. I wasn’t enthusiastic about jumping on the Trump Train, but I sure as heck am now.

Go Trump!!

Thanks Jim, for holding his feet to the fire, while you were kicking him in the butt... to CROSS THE LINE.

I have ZERO doubt that you and other freepers here, have played a significant role in turning the worm... and forcing Ted to see the light.

You are the best.

This is the speech Ted should have given at the convention. It would have done a tremendous amount of good at that time.

Coming so late in the season, it’s more about Ted, and less about the party, our nominee, the voters, and our beloved country.

It’s a very good message, and I’m glad he gave it, but it hardly makes up for all the destructive division he’s fomented for all these months.

I acknowledge, but do not applaud.

Who all was on this new, second list of judges? Trump released a list a few months back of solid judges to nominate.

Yup. He’s on the Trump Train.

I couldn’t care less why, what the deal was, or anything else. The absolute, number one priority we have right now is keeping the Legions of Evil out of the White House. Sen. Cruz just handed us a gift horse. We should accept it graciously and be thankful.

Excellent Mr. Cruz and thank you. The Clinton and Obama crime families have committed high crimes against our nation and any level of severe punishment including life in prison or death for treason are completely acceptable and provide a warning message to future criminals seeking higher office.

GOOD on CRUZ!
Graciously accepted by TRUMP.

Today, Senator Ted CRUZ finally got around to announcing that he intended to keep his pledge and promise to support the GOP Presidential candidate.

Cruz proved that he is a much better man and politician than the shameful Linda Graham and John Ellis Bush put together!
