Utah Sen. Mike Lee on Friday rejected Donald Trump's Supreme Court nomination proposal, saying he already has the job he wants, Politico reported.
"Sen. Lee already has the job he wants which is why he is campaigning to represent the great people of Utah again this year," Lee's spokesman Conn Carroll told Politico in a statement.

You may be right but we would be lucky. Only 45 years old, a proven conservative who will not do a Roberts. Think of the female from Az. and the one from N.H. As a sitting Senator confirmation will be easier. I can’t thrust Cruz anymore.
The “true” conservatives are all full of sh$t - a chance to do more to preserve the United States of America than any person ought to have a right to and he says this. Frig them all.

I think he pretty much has to say this for voters who think he’d just be biding his time in his current gig while waiting for the SCOTUS job.
Wouldn’t the correct word be “decline” versus “reject”? If one just reads the headline (as many/most do) this sounds like Trump floated someone’s name and Lee rejected it. This terminology is a subtle swipe at Trump.
But Trump made a good move mentioning him. He as much as said “It doesn’t matter if you like me or I like you, as long as you are right for the job”.
Trump did his part. He extended an olive branch
