"The New York City Police Department said the explosion in Chelsea Saturday night that injured dozens of people was "definitely" a bomb, with components indicative of an IED being found at the blast site."
NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill said investigators are working to determine the motivation behind the bombing and find out who did it. He described the multi-agency effort as a "very complex post-blast investigation."
"We definitely had a bombing last night on 23rd Street and we had a suspicious device on 27th Street," O'Neill said.

“Be on the lookout for a man!”
That’s all we get here lately from the media and officials - a man. It’s not funny but it mirrors the Miss Swan comedy character, “what did he look like?” Swan: “He look like a man”
But this is real life....so not funny.
I was watching CNN International earlier. They refered to it as an “explosion.” Never once did they refer to it as a “bomb” or a “bombing.”
After reports came out that the evidence is clear the bomb was outside the dumpster (metal bent inward, not outward - you can see that in all the dumpster photos), CNN reported that the bomb was inside the dumpster.
That "suspicious device on 27th Street" was a pressure cooker with a cell phone duct taped to it. The phone obviously was for a remote controlled detonation via a cell phone call to it.
But De Blasio says it’s not terrorism. Oh? Are the Boy Scouts acting out??
CNN is so stupid.
The Central Park event while tragic for the injured student, was unlikely to have been terrorism. The explosive, chemicals in a plastic bag, had been placed in a spot which hardly ever sees foot traffic.NYPD theorized that someone, likely a HS student taking basic chem had tried to make a big bang for the 4th and discarded his effort in a place where it would harm no one, or so he thought.
“Car 57 where are you?”
>>>It’s Car 54<<<
Uh, you obviously don’t get it.
hopefully someone will. #;^)
Wow.
Such insight.
Oddly, I came to that very conclusion when I WATCHED THE YOUTUBE VIDEO OF THE MASSIVE EXPLOSION.
I said (out loud even)... That. Is. A. Bomb.
"Definitely."

I really disagree with that completely. A high school student? Originally the NYPD stated that the IED was put together by someone who had a knowledge of chemistry. If the bomber didn’t intend to cause harm, he wouldn’t have left it in a very crowded park with thousands of daily visitors. I don’t buy the latest theory.
It's a key part of their parody/comedy schtick.
I get it, but I just showed my age. I watched the show too. There are 57 Heinz varieties...maybe that’s causing confusion.
Did they find the perp’s uncharred Passport yet?
Darn strange that Tens of Billions of dollars of NSA-Prism-Stingray-Interpol-FBI-CIA-DHS-NYPD intelligence surveillance of every citizen didn’t help prevent this.
Oh yeah - that’s been the case in four of the five previous Patriot Day terrorist events, and this Constitution Day pressure cooker terrorist bomb attack...
Take it to the bank.....
“There’s a holdup in The Bronx/Brooklyn’s broken out in fights/there’s a traffic jam in Harlem that’s backed up to Jackson Heights/There’s a Scout troop short a child/Kruchevs due in Idlewild/Car 54 where are you?’’
Streamed at bottom of fox says the NJ bomb was same man. Hmmmm?
Hell, the NSA cannot even track down “rachel from cardmember services” scammer and they track all phone calls, they are useless.
