Conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly passed away on Monday. She was 92.
Schlafly, the founder of Eagle Forum, rose to prominence in the 1960s when she wrote the book A Choice, Not an Echo, which sold more than three million copies. She was a leading voice of opposition against the Equal Rights Amendment, fighting to preserve traditional gender roles.
She wrote a total of 23 books, the most recent being an expanded edition of A Choice, Not an Echo. In March, Schlafly endorsed Donald Trump for president.
Schafly was predeceased by her husband, John, and is survived by her six children.
I heard Phyllis on the radio just weeks ago, saying that the way to keep a husband happy is to let him make decisions. The example she gave was that her husband decided that in their household potatoes would be served boiled or baked, but not fried.
R.I.P. Phyllis Schlafly.

RIP
She may have single handedly stopped the ERA, which would have given lib judges carte blanche for all kinds of nasty judicial fiats.
Phyllis Schlafly, pray for us!
She was my favorite all-time female role model. What a brilliant woman. God bless her! We were so lucky to have her for all these years; she even had enough energy in her 90s to be an effective weapon against some of the trump haters. What an awesome woman!!! She was one person I would have loved to meet!!! RIP
~Forever in our Hearts~
Schafley has put out some cringeworthy endorsements in her old age, but her legacy is pretty secure as one of the greatest female conservative grassroot leaders in recent decades. She was one of the most instrumental figures in getting us Goldwater and later on, Ronald Reagan.
On a related note... another similarly forgotten battle from that time period (early 70s) is the left ending up on the "wrong side of history" over their ridiculous push to try and force "racial harmony" by busing kids to schools nowhere near them that had a different racial makeup. (Perhaps the lefties were trying to overcompensate over the embarrassment of the Dixiecrats opposing desegregation tooth and nail a decade earlier). In any case, forced racial busing was one of the stupidest ideas ever, conservatives at the time were right to oppose it, and the left resorted to calling us nasty racists and bigots and every name in the book until the plan was abandoned and nothing more was ever said about it again. My pipe dream is some Hollywood movie is made exposing the idiocy of the left's "racial busing" idea in the early 70s and the vile tactics they tried to use to smear decent conservatives who pointed out it wouldn't work.
RIP.
Just yesterday:
Schlafly sees potential for a fresh conservative revolution with Trump

Arriving Tuesday: The Conservative Case for Trump, by constitutional lawyer and Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly and co-authors Ed Martin and Brett Decker. The trio have declared that a surprising conservative choice for president is none other than GOP nominee Donald Trump. Both Newt Gingrich and Laura Ingraham give the work a thumbs up.
If you cant stand Hillary Clinton, but wonder if you could vote for Donald Trump, you need to buy this book, Regnery Publishing advises.
For the first time since 1980, a significant number of Republicans are considering abandoning their partys nominee, the book notes, deeming this phenomenon a grave mistake. Mrs. Schlafly and company say the Trump brand of radical redirection could actually set America back on the path of Ronald Reagans conservative revolution.
well done Mrs. Shalafly. this hurts us, but thank God for her and that she’s finally at peace and resting with Him away from the political cesspit she tried so hard to reform.
Phyllis Schlafly was a true patriot who defended reason over the deceit of the Left and defended the sacred traditions of America. She has made an indelible mark on the America’s legacy to the pursuit of freedom.
Ugh, “busing”.
Now that you mention it I wonder why the left isn’t trying to revive that turkey.
I got “bused” to an inner-city middle school (1984-86) due to a court order. It was a pain because it took an hour coming and going to get home (30 min. each way depending on traffic) instead of 5 minutes to a closer school. I frequently missed the bus in the morning because I didn’t want to stand outside at 6am in the dark. Some of the Black teachers there had been around since the segregation era, including my 6th grade homeroom teacher, a Korean War vet who could fly a plane. Many of the Black kids were not “enriched” by having White suburbanites in their classroom, which White left-wingers in their soft bigotry of low expectations believed would somehow improve their academic scores.
Thank goodness she helped stop the crazy ERA. rip
RIP
A truly sad day. RIP, Mrs. Schlafly.
A real Constitutional Conservative...and Trump supporter.
Rest in Peace, warrior.
She will be missed by many. A truly good person. She did not deserve the stress she was subjected to this last year or so.
I remember airing her daily radio program and paying attention to it.
A very respectable Christian lady is she. Just like Mom and Grandma to many Americans.
A REAL woman; her kind is all too rare these days.
Into thine hands, O Lord...
