The 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season is heating up. Two tropical systems are taking aim at the United States. Tropical Depression Eight (Hermine) is expected to brush the Outer Banks of NC. Tropical Depression Nine (Ian) is in the Gulf of Mexico, anticipated to affect the Florida coast.
Public Advisories: Ian(TD 9) Hermine (TD 8)
Discussions: Ian (TD9) Hermine (TD 8)
For right now I am inland. Next year hoping to be on the coast. My mother in law has made it for 50 years, if it takes me I am ready.
I have spent most of my life along the LA/TX coast and have seen some major damage/destruction/deaths
caused by the storms. I have always had a place to go to be out of the direct hit/eye. Good luck
and take care. Hope you enjoy Coast be it Atlantic or GOM.
Yes we do. Looks like the Tropical Depression is just going to brush the Eastern edge of NC and not bring the needed rain inland. Too bad.
My best friend, I visit twice a year, is going to be right under it when it comes ashore near Cedar Key.
Other than flying tree branches pretty meek. Rain needed.
Welcome, haven’t seen you on here in a long time.
BTW, Bastardi predicting a major storm off the Eastern US in 2 weeks.
Well, I haven’t been here in a long time. The issues of today brought me back! Hope you are well.
We shall see. Our part of NC has been spared any really bad hurricanes in the recent past....so I am hoping that continues. But a nice little tropical depression to end the drought here would not be all bad.
The folks on the weather channel are praying for a Hurricane, they haven’t been important in a decade and their global warming scare tactics have been noticeably lacking ...
The NWS was relegated to naming T/storms last year to get the numbers to match prediction.
Ya, that was both hilarious and embarrassing ...
Same here. Different look at Weatherbell.
Hurricane Watch until Saturday in Coastal Citrus, Hernando & Pasco counties.
A Hurricane Watch has been issued for the Florida Gulf Coast from
the Anclote River to Indian Pass. A tropical storm watch has been
issued for the Florida Gulf Coast west of Indian Pass to the
Walton/Bay County line.
Thank you for not coming to Texas! People here are developing web feet as it is.
Found it, you have to click on the “premium” tab, it’s still free.

NHC says getting better organized. Models are hinting at hurricane strength before landfall.
Twitter:
Tropical Depression Nine gets better organized, has potential to be near hurricane strength by landfall. #WFTV
