if it was advisory and parliament has sovereignty against the people it governs, then why did cameron even bother to resign??

where was grayling before brexit? my guess is that he was brashly predicting its failure, and otherwise ignoring it. grayling seems to be a quintessential liberal's liberal in some of his other public writings.

I would imagine if one wants to stay in parliament, they would be wise to heed the voters.

And if a republican wants to stay in his/her position here, they better not make a peep about trump unless it’s support.

Not a peep.

The elites consider voting a necessary evil. Many times they don’t care about the outcome, so it’s like a coin toss when they can’t decide something. Other times, it’s important to them, so they inform everyone how stupid they would be not to think the same way the elite think.

And, then, if they happen to lose, the fall back is that the vote itself is either illegal or non-binding.

Might as well have a dictator.

“A campaign created by concerned pro-Europeans in the aftermath of the Brexit result. In a UK changed by fear, let’s get back to facts to steer us through.” …
The whole site is anti-sovereignty propaganda. Another case of calling opinion “facts” again.

And, of course, the people don’t really know what is good for them and must be made to eat their spinach.

Parliament is sovereign, they have no written constitution and Parliament can do virtually anything it likes.

But they are gonna honor the result, it would cause a crisis if they didn't. Only danger of it not happening is if Labour wins an election (on a platform of not doing it) before it's implemented. There won't be an early election unless the government falls from internal divisions.

Prof. Grayling is not a philosopher, but a propagandist. (That puts his obvious failing in an almost complimentary form.)

Since the EU has repeatedly shown that it is far more than--and intends to exercise an ideological role that has nothing to do with--a free trading arrangement; one must seriously question such incidental things (to this "philosopher") as loyalty, patriotism and personal identification, or the absence of such in his personal search for truth.
