A prominently displayed bulletin board at Appalachian State University has been taken over by campus collectivists in an effort to encourage certain students to “check their privilege” during their daily walk to class.
The board is displayed in the Plemmons Student Union building, which ASU calls “the centerpiece of the Appalachian campus.” The board contains various different posters that condemn white, male, cisgender, heterosexual, Christian, and able-bodied persons who are unaware of their inherent societal privilege.

Hopefully, outrages such a this will encourage young people and their parents to abandon the idea of college and seek alternatives.
Historically, nearly all of the work done today did NOT require more than a solid 8th grade education. For example, my grandparents ( born in the early 1890s) would find it laughable than a hotel check-in clerk now needs a college diploma just to get an interview.
Suggestion to employers:
Use SAT, ACT, and GED scores to screen for bright applicants. This and internships should be more than enough to find literate and numerate employees for most of the work done today in our nation.

My former company made things similarly uncomfortable for white, straight males, to the point that many were either fired or quit. Since then they’ve lost 3/4 of their sales revenue it’s difficult to see how they’ll survive much longer. I wonder if that is a coincidence or not. They were going along just fine with us for the prior 12 years or so....
Hopefully the university will see similar problems occur because of this, it would serve them right.

It’s a community board. The college didn’t put it on there. Guessing the author never went to college.
Anyone who is “taunted” by this is taunted because they have already bought the narrative.
“White privilege” presupposes the existence of groups, with responsibility for the deeds of group members passing down through history to current members.
OK. If that’s the game, then any white male student should stand tall and proud at having the mighty deeds of his ancestors ascribed to him.
I was hoping that the sanity of the community might have a greater effect on the university. Nope. I looked at their website — their mission is to create “global citizens” and they have the usual useless “studies” coursework, including classes on body image and queer icons. I have a son who is off to college in two years. We’re going to have to be very careful about where he goes. I miss my college days in the ‘70’s: a faculty full of old-fashioned liberals and a handful of communists, but real academic and personal freedom on campus. And very few wacky students.
Someone needs to destroy the bulletin board.
