To me, Ted's conundrum is how to make that screwing-the-pooch major faux pas of his convention betrayal burnout funeral pyre 'statement' into something that can salvage a Texas Politician's career. That's awfully hard to do when you still have to carry around that poor mutilated pooch with you.
Regardless, this situation with him now is a totally Texas matter and it is up to the citizens of Texas as to whether they want a man who couldn't live up to a pledge before this country represent them. Nationally, I think this man is off the political radar for anything beyond state level, if that.

Cruz is damaged goods, but this McCaul guy sounds like a RINO on steriods.
Unless I’m wrong about McCaul, I think Cruz should make a go of it - acknowledging his grave errors of the past year and showing tangible signs of repentance. Standing strong with Donald J. would help tremendously.
And forget Glenn Beck ever existed.

I would think Texans might have an issue with a candidate who already is signalling that he plans on not doing his job (again) because he wants to run for another office as soon as he is re-elected to the Senate.
And he wont have Sarah wrapping him in a pretty TEA Party package this time around.

He is a basket case.

He could still be very helpful as a senator, but he still won't endorse Trump, he hasn't apologized for: his 6-8 month campaign FOR the TPA, his vote to release the TPA, his push for 500% more foreign nationals to ostensibly help businesses ‘employ more locals,’ his lie about not knowing he had Canadian citizenship, his lie about what a “natural born citizen” was, then conveniently changing his stance to self-certify himself as “NBC,” etc.
On second thought, kick him out.

I supported Cruz for Senate back when I still had to explain to Texans who he was.
Then his titanic ego led him to imagine he could play the saviour of the Constitution by swatting aside its Art.II NBC requirement. [Burn the village to save the village?]
I will not vote for Cruz for anything unless I see a public statement from him that he is in fact NOT a Natural Born Citizen and that he will never run for President again.
I am not going to hold my breath.

This Texan will support the strongest candidate against him in the Primary. That simple.

The article hit the nail on the head. Cruz ran for the Senate in the first place only so he could run for president four years later, and he’s going to have a problem convincing people that he wants to be re-elected so he can now be a Senator. A decent opponent should be able to defeat Cruz in the primary.

Got to wonder who are the “ national leaders” looking for a replacement for Cruz
