Kasich: Give McCain a lifetime Senate appointment
The Washington Examiner ^ | Auguat 4, 2016 | Ryan Lovelace

Donald Trump might be unwilling to support Arizona Sen. John McCain's re-election bid, but Ohio Gov. John Kasich thinks McCain deserves a lifetime appointment to the Senate.

"Honestly, I don't even think they ought to have an election. They ought to tell McCain, as long as you want to be in the Senate, you can have it," Kasich told WGN radio. "He's just the greatest guy."

I truly thought this was from the Onion. Upon reading the article, in spite of the masthead, I still couldn’t believe it was not from the Onion. In a nutshell, this article explains why there is a candidate Trump.

Any statement from Kasich should be about as effective as an endorsement by Ted Cruz. He certainly did McCain no favors by making this stupid comment.

The previous gov (Strickland) was so bad that the Democrats are now running him for the Senate. I never liked Portman that much, but I will vote against Strickland.

Worth evaluating in light of all the John McCain adoration happening. Is this recording something the American people should hear?

What a POS Kasich is. Good to see that he imploded. Primaries bring out the true side of people, it would seem.

hard-working Americans who have paid your way for too many years

Sadly, these hard-working ones have no idea that they are being fleeced.

I never liked Portman

My read on Portman is that Portman will do what's best for Portman. He's very intelligent, very informed, and very focused on the choices he makes. He will never go so far out on a limb that he can't get back. He has been very, very sly and guarded through the whole nevertrump situation. I suspect he'll work with President Trump because the voters will demand no less.

That's my take anyway.

At least Bob is backing Trump; something Kemp probably would not be doing if he were still around.

Yes, let's just do away with messy elections and uncertain outcomes. As long as Kasich thinks someone is "the greatest guy", they're entitled to lifetime office. I'm sure that Kasich would be equally happy to see some hack like Bush or Clinton crowned President for Life as well.

Come to think of it, Kasich's scenario isn't so far removed from what we have de facto if not de jure. Thanks to the inertia of incumbency and the power of political parties and their PACs, it's next to impossible to get rid of an incumbent. Even conservative states like Arizona and South Carolina can't seem to get rid of McCain and Graham in the primaries, so they're effectively guaranteed a lifetime appointment.

Yes Kasich because the will of the people means nothing to you or traitor McCain.

John Kasich the Constitutionalist. A guy that wants to bypass the Constitution to keep his friends and the establishment in power should never be in the White House.

Everything I’ve seen recently suggests to me the Elites have decided that Democracy and the Constitution are far too dangerous to their globalist dreams. Both will need to be abolished.

I’ve been warning this for weeks. We are heading towards Globalist Martial Law

And the great Khan says Trump doesn’t understand our Constitution! Unless Kasich was making a joke (unlikely), this single comment should disqualify him from holding any public office above dog catcher.

Honestly, I don't even think they ought to have an election.

The GOPe is sounding more and more like Liberal Democrats all the time. Now it thinks elections are unnecessary. The Uniparty thinks the People are irrelevant, except as to obeying the Uniparty.
