Obama: Honesty Is ‘Absolutely Necessary’ Trait for a President

President Obama said in an interview with CBS airing Sunday that honesty was “absolutely necessary” for a president in order to build trust with the American people.

Obama has endorsed his former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, to succeed him in the White House. In the wake of her private email scandal and the FBI’s revelation that she was “extremely careless” with classified material, Clinton’s honesty numbers with the public are dismal. The FBI also refuted Clinton’s constant claim that she never sent or received classified material on her server, which she has dismissed as a mere “mistake.”

“FDR and Lincoln were both talented at letting both sides of an issue think that they agreed with both of them,” Face The Nation host John Dickerson said. “Is honesty overrated as a presidential quality?”

COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate here in the USA.

ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It’s 5.6%.

COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?

ABBOTT: No, that’s 23%.

COSTELLO: You just said 5.6%.

ABBOTT: 5.6% Unemployed.

COSTELLO: Right 5.6% out of work.

ABBOTT: No, that’s 23%.

COSTELLO: Okay, so it’s 23% unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, that’s 5.6%.

COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE. Is it 5.6% or 23%?

ABBOTT: 5.6% are unemployed. 23% are out of work.

COSTELLO: If you are out of work you are unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, Obama said you can’t count the “Out of Work” as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed.

COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!

ABBOTT: No, you miss his point.

COSTELLO: What point?

ABBOTT: Someone who doesn’t look for work can’t be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn’t be fair.

COSTELLO: To whom?

ABBOTT: The unemployed.

COSTELLO: But ALL of them are out of work.

ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work. Those who are out of work gave up looking and if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.

COSTELLO: So if you’re off the unemployment roles that would count as less unemployment?

ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!

COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don’t look for work?

ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That’s how it gets to 5.6%. Otherwise it would be 23%.

COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number?

ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.

COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?

ABBOTT: Correct.

COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?

ABBOTT: Bingo!

COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier one is to have people stop looking for work.

ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like a Democrat.

COSTELLO: I don’t even know what the hell I just said!

ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like Hillary.

“He must have read that somewhere.”

It’s based on their polling - the Dems don’t have much going for them, but they are still perceived as more honest than Republicans...since we never (until now) fought back.

Ever since Nixon, the Republicans have let themselves become known as the party of dishonesty - in part by NOT POINTING OUT the level of dishonesty in the Democrats (until Trump, that is). So if the Republicans say that murders are up 17%, the Dems and the media call them liars because the government is spending more money on Criminal Justice - AND IT STICKS*.

On the other hand if the workforce employment level is at the lowest in modern history, but the president says things are just fine - THAT STICKS TOO, as the Republicans won’t refute him, lest they be called RACISTS.

So Obama is considered ‘honest’ talking about the economy whereas the Republicans are considered ‘dishonest’ talking about the murder rate.

*This is ACTUALLY TRUE - the AP literally debunked Trump’s claim that murders are up 17% by saying it can’t be true, since Criminal Justice spending is also up. This is what we face.

Yeah it looked for awhile that we might pull out and begin to the course back to normalcy. Then Clinton was elected and things have been pulled hard to the left across most of western civilization. Neither papa Bush or W Bush fought much against that pull, but they did slow it down some.
