Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Thursday called for the U.S. to test every person with a Muslim background to see if they believe in Sharia law, and deport those who do.
"Let me be as blunt and direct as I can be. Western civilization is in a war. We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background, and if they believe in Sharia, they should be deported," Gingrich said in an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity.
"Sharia is incompatible with Western civilization. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia, glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door."
His remarks came in light of a terror attack in Nice, France, where a large truck plowed through a crowd, killing as many as 80 people.
"How do we ascertain -- how do you possibly ascertain whether or not that person really wants assimilation, really wants a new life, or whether or not they want to expand that caliphate, which is what we're at war against?" Hannity asked.
"The first step is you have to ask them the questions," Gingrich responded. "The second step is you have to monitor what they're doing on the Internet. The third step is, let me be very clear, you have to monitor the mosques. I mean, if you're not prepared to monitor the mosques, this whole thing is a joke. Where do you think the primary source of recruitment is? Where do you think the primary place of indoctrination is? You've got to look at the madrassas -- if you're a school which is teaching Sharia, you want to expel it from the country."

Not a very good policy position, but I suspect that Newt knows that. There is no way you could make a test like that effective let alone Constitutional. The violent ones would lie, the ones that were relatively peaceful believers would admit it and get deported. If the courts allowed that sort of religious test, which they wouldn’t.
Keep in mind that the executive branch has the power to cut off all immigration. Just say that our security procedures can”t adequately vet those coming here and we have to wait until they can. Which will be in, oh, maybe another 20 years. I think that’s a better place to start from. Why do we need the immigrants we have, let alone any more?

Gingrich is right in that even Mohammedans who have CITIZENSHIP need to be confronted about anti-Constitution and traitorous movements like Sharia. Deport citizens who support Sharia/treason.
The Quaker-type Christians will rush to defend the poor treasonous Mohammedans but we’ll have to confront the Lib traitors too.

Would agree with you if it wasn’t followed up with the comments about monitoring. This won’t fly well with those against profiling etc., and I understand and concur generally with the civil rights issues. That said, when your best intentions as a society are being used as a source of weakness and a means to attack you, you have to make significant adjustments. I think you need to ask the Sharia question publicly, of the Imams and those with leadership positions within the Muslim community. If they lie publicly, you don’t allow them to walk it back in the Mosques. It’s about philosophy, and the philosophy that Sharia supersedes all national laws is incompatible with being a citizen.
They have to go back. Solving this is going to require mean things. I wonder if anyone has the stomach for it.

Yeah. It’s not feasible at all. How would he do that? How would he find all Muslims unless people have to put their religion in a federal database? How would he know if they are telling the truth? We do have to ensure they are never permitted to set up Sharia courts in the US, though. That’s necessary.

What else should we do. If you listen to Newt you’ll hear a few facts. 70 or Sharia courts in UK? Who knows how many in France. There are no go zones in UK and France. You want that here?
I agree with Newt. Check out the Mosques, check out their schools. Check out how little girls are being treated. Check out their stand on Sharia law.
Why is this any different from the KKK? Islam in the form we are seeing is not a relgion of peace. I doubt that it’s a religion to be honest. It’s an ideology....like Communism.

I am not sure that I agree with Gingrich’s solution, but he has an underlying point. If we officially recognize that we are ar war with radical Islam, we can do things that we otherwise could not do under our constitution.
