Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan's request to block Hillary Clinton from receiving classified intelligence briefings was denied by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper on Monday.
In a letter to Ryan, Clapper wrote that he did "not intend to withhold briefings from any officially nominated, eligible candidate."
A spokeswoman for Ryan, AshLee Strong, said in a statement that "We obviously disagree with the decision and want to know what precautions will be taken and what assurances the director can give that Secretary Clinton won't mishandle classified information. She has proven herself untrustworthy."

Pretty please, Democrats, tell us what you’ll do to keep us safe, and promise us everything will be okay.
Kiss the ring. Lick the boots. Is that all we can do?
Her party gets to count the votes.
Paul Rino is feeling the heat from Paul Nehlen.
I gave Nehlen another ten bucks last night.
I actually think there is a chance he could pick off Rino. The first time I sent him ten bucks I didn’t.
i keep TWEETING AND FACEBOOKING TRUMP to ask for an independent investigation of voting practices and how they are counted now!!! Nov 9th may be too late!
There are still a FEW members of congress we can trust to look at it closely and quickly.
This should have been startd last year or last century. We vote like a banbana republc
I agree - this is yet another example of old, corrupt, Washington politics as usual which Trump can jump on.
The more they let Hitlery off the hook, the more she gets away with, the better for Trump - it exemplifies exactly what the people hate about Washington, and it doesn’t help Hitlery one iota.
How’s the blood pressure, dp? You were pretty ticked a few days back, if I recall correctly.
A real Speaker would immediately call a vote to rescind all remaining FY16 and FY17 funding on all nonessential intel programs until he resigns or is fired or her clearance is denied.
LOL I’m better. I really need to calm down when I read some of these articles.
I take breaks when i get too upset and skip ones i know will upset me now :)
That’s very kind of you to remember.
Not completely joking, FR is like an addiction. I’ve made dinner late, been a few minutes late for work, skipped errands till the last minute :)
It’s all Jim’s fault.
Perhaps the terrorists knew of Ambassador Stevens secret travel schedule to Benghazi through intercepted Hillary emails, or unsecured phone calls, and if so, did her callous disregard for required State Department security protocols lead directly to the slaughter of Ambassador Stevens?
He has now earned the title of Traitorclapper.
In the immortal words of Gomer Pyle, “Surprise, surprise, surprise!
The arrogance and stupidity of the GOP leadership knows no bounds. Obama and his henchmen/women love sticking it to them. For some reason they keep going back to get kicked in the teeth. Meanwhile, their voter base has tired of the farce and is walking away to go Galt or vote for insurgents.
My brother is a pro GOP lobbyist for a major corporation. He loves Ryan, Kasich, the Bushes and the other RINO’s he entertains in Washington and New York. He tells me what wonderful people they are and how much they care about the country. It has reached the point I can’t stand to talk to him.
The President is the ultimate clearance granting and denying authority.
I agree....Ryan is just being “forceful”....It’s called BS.
Lol - I find myself turning the news off quite often. I just don’t want to listen to some people. It bothers me no end when I hear the dishonesty and stupidity.
Last night Kelly had a group on. The tv was on in another room and I could hear the yelling and the nonsense. I think I broke some kind of record getting there and turning it off so I didn’t have to listen to it. Obama’s voice makes me do the same thing. Sometimes I even say some not very nice words....they just make me so mad!
Yes, FR addiction is definitely Jim’s fault. He does warn everyone up front though.
Symbolism over substance.
