Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan's request to block Hillary Clinton from receiving classified intelligence briefings was denied by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper on Monday.
In a letter to Ryan, Clapper wrote that he did "not intend to withhold briefings from any officially nominated, eligible candidate."
A spokeswoman for Ryan, AshLee Strong, said in a statement that "We obviously disagree with the decision and want to know what precautions will be taken and what assurances the director can give that Secretary Clinton won't mishandle classified information. She has proven herself untrustworthy."

I think the first question to ask Clapper is if her training certificate is current. If it’s not....he has no argument here and must comply with denial of classified. I see not training or certification via the State Department....so unless some certificate gets shown....this is not worth defending. If Clapper were to continue feeding her classified without the training or certificate....it’s pretty easy to take the next step....fire him.

James Clapper, America’s top spy, is reportedly in “frequent and unusual contact” with the military officer who is suspected of allowing US reports on ISIS to be altered to fit the administration’s official line, Spencer Ackerman at The Guardian reports.
“In communications, Clapper, who is far more senior than [Army Brig. Gen. Steven Grove], is said to tell Grove how the war looks from his vantage point, and question Grove about Central Command’s assessments,” Ackerman writes.
“Such a situation could place inherent pressure on a subordinate, sources said.”
