Never let it be said that Newt Gingrich is predictable.
As the political world waits to see if the former Georgia congressman and U.S. House speaker gets tapped to be Donald Trumps running mate, Gingrich teamed up with his former Crossfire partner Van Jones to discuss this weeks shootings in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Minnesota.
Speaking on Facebook Live, Gingrich was his typically direct self. But, in this age of polarized politics, whether it be of the electoral or racial variety, Gingrichs comments were also remarkable. Here is the key quote:
It took me a long time, and a number of people talking to me through the years to get a sense of this. If you are a normal, white American, the truth is you dont understand being black in America and you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.

Thanks, I don’t really care if anybody agrees with me but it is good to know others have had the same experience I suppose.
No mater if a person thinks I am right or wrong the undeniable question is:
What gives 12.3% of the population the right to inflict so much discord on so many other people? What makes them so damn special?
Blacks that work hard, assimilate, behave as equals, have consideration for others, live responsibly and expect nothing special for that will get no problems from me. That their brothers don’t behave this way and put a negative stigma on all blacks is something for them to do something about if they don’t like it.
+1
You have not accounted for the fact that 60% of Americans are white, 13% are black, 18% hispanic, 9% other or mixed. Thus, blacks are disproportionally shot.
But of course there is a simple explanation, they are disproportionally criminal and disobey police orders far in excess of whites.
Richard Pryor Found that out.... Thank God We Got Penitentiaries (Warning: Language)
There are times when you should just zip it, Newt. This is one of those times.
“As a black person, I say shove it Newt! Nobody can entirely understand the experience of anyone else, regardless of race, class, gender, nationality, religion, etc., but its certainly possible for anyone to somewhat understand the experience of anyone else, again regardless of race, class, gender, nationality, religion, etc. The black/white divide is not something thats singularly difficult to cross, for the most part we speak the same language, share much of the same history and culture. Gimme a break!”
Great post & spot on.
This means that about half the time Newt is sensible and worth listening to. Unfortunately for Newt, the Vice-Presidency isn't a half-time position.
All you Newt lovers..... This is why Newt should not be on a Trump ticket.
Newt is a Globalist.
Translation = Open Borders = Riggid Trade = Carbon Taxes
Juss sayin.
.
Thiese are Newt’s real feelings, the other stuff is his playing to his perceived conservative audience.
He was live and gushing like a schoolgirl when Obama gave speeches in 2008.
Gingrich has no clue how the average American lives, white, black, or other.
.
It all depends how one defines a conservative. Billy Kristol, Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, George Will, and Glenn Beck have been repeatedly called Conservatives. That definition, I hope, does not apply to Trump. Trump can be viewed as a pragmatist and patriot, something none of the above are. And he is not a liberal, rejecting PC. Whatever, he is by far more conservative than Hillary or any of the Democrats.
Its true. Rand Paul wasn’t in my VP thoughts at all but Sundance has made excellent predictions in the past. I won’t be surprised if Rand is the VP choice.
Actually, I hope that your is the correct explanation. The alternative is that Newt just isn’t of sound mind.
Well Sundance put some qualifiers on it, but he made a strong case that as of now, it’s Paul. All I can say is, better Rand than Newt.
And as I see it it’s NOT someone to give Trump gravitas, g r a v I t a s , GRAVITAS like the Knee-Pad media looped when GWB elected Dick Cheney , LOL !!!
You’re right, and let us not forget Newt called Hannity, in private, and asked him to lay off Obama in 2008....heard Hannity say it to Newt live, right on his show last month.
Seriously, Newt?
“We get that it sucks to be black in America, Newt.”
You know, I am not conceding that. I am not buying into the leftist initial conditions, so to speak.
It doesn’t suck to be black in America. It doesn’t suck to be in America.
Try being “black” (or anything else) elsewhere in the world. It doesn’t get any better than being in America.
