Gingrich? No.
Same for Sessions, Hunter, Cruz, and Demint. No
We MUST win the election. Never mind how the person would function as VP, or that they would somehow groomed to be the successor. Those factors are IRRELEVANT.
Trump needs to select someone who will deliver a key battleground state, or enhance a key demographic.

Trump's going to have to put someone excellent in charge of the military. VP logically has to be someone respected and knowledgeable about DC insanity and how to get things done there. Logically, that's Sessions, but two old guys vs two old gals maybe not such a good idea. Plus, what would the US Senate be like without Sessions? Ancient Rome would have nothing on what would be left.
I'd advocate for a youngish male with military and DC experience who, even if imperfect, could be mentored. That might be Tom Cotton.
Not Mia Love. She just got to the HOR, and she was much too quick to give up on her campaign "principles".
That's my take, anyway.

No way. I love Newt but this is not a time to pull a Bush and load up with old foggies.

So after winning the nomination on his own terms and completely rewriting the political rule book, Donald J. Trump needs to throw that all away and pick someone who can “deliver” a key battleground state, or “enhance” a key demographic?
Which key battleground state did Donald J. Trump loose in the primary? Let Trump be Trump! It has worked so far.

Nope. Mia’s a traitor to this country and to conservatism.
If anything she should be replaced as soon as possible.

I was thinking he should pick Mia Love If you speak to the people from Utah, Mia hardly the conservative people around here think she is. This would give us a ticket without a conservative.

Newt for.... something, but not for Veep. Christi as COS.
I think trump should wait for convention and Veep vetting. But not a party animal which can’t pass the smell test. The goal is a seated Republican and a healthy SCOTUS appointment. A seated Republican is just not possible with a toxic Veep.

Trump needs to select someone who will deliver a key battleground state, or enhance a key demographic. I agree. A Veep's main job IMO is to help win the election. Newt was demonized when he was speaker (The 'GingGrinch'). He brings no new voters to the ticket.

Yes, Newt had a lot of bad press when he was relentlessly attacked b by the 4th estate before we all knew the press was an wing of the democrat party.

I hope he picks Rick Scott.

How can Newt Gingrich possibly be considered a viable running mate in a presidential election when his own track record as a presidential candidate was such a disaster?
He would drag this ticket down in a big way. Let the Democrats run a fat old has-been from the 1990s.

they all do. the GOPe pays them a visit on the day they are sworn in and explains how the GOPe controls committee assignments (i.e. power) and re-election campaign coffers (i.e. money) and without those two things, a freshman congressman or senator can have no effect on anything, nor much chance for re-election. the system is completely corrupted from the inside. it’s like the corrupted Roman Senate or yore.
