Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he has reservations about the candidate at the top the 2016 Republican ticket: Donald Trump.
McConnell made headlines earlier this week for declining to say whether Trump is qualified for the presidency.
But in an interview with Washington, D.C. bureau reporter Geoff Bennett, McConnell said Trump is not yet a credible presidential candidate.
McConnell: "Trump clearly needs to change, in my opinion, to win the general election. What Ive said to him both publicly and privately: 'Youre a great entertainer. You turn on audiences. Youre good before a crowd. You have a lot of Twitter followers. That worked fine for you in the primaries. But now that you are in the general, people are looking for a level of seriousness that is typically conveyed by having a prepared text and Teleprompter and staying on message.' So my hope is that he is beginning to pivot and become what I would call a more serious and credible candidate for the highest office in the land."
Bennett: "At the moment, though, I hear you saying he does not meet that threshold of credibility?"
McConnell: "Hes getting closer. Getting closer."

It will take a while, but our Congress needs a thorough housecleaning...
Despicable bastard
Trump needs to hit these people like he did in the primary, hit McConnell and Ryan right between the eyes! McConnell left off the most important things, Trump is a successful private sector billionaire and Trump loves America!
MCConnell is nothing but a post turtle. Please someone add the picture of the turtle on the post. McConnell has nothing to add. He needs to support his media wife so she can bring home the bacon
‘But now that you are in the general, people are looking for a level of seriousness that is
typically conveyed by having a prepared text and Teleprompter and staying on message.’
*******************
Not totally off course with that statement. Trump needs to get on a prepared text/message
and forget the rambling he was doing during the primaries. He needs to get on message about
Hillary and hammer that until the cows come home.
McConnell is a moron. The base never selected McConnell, but they selected Trump.
This is why the gope/uniparty purge is beginning in earnest.
They all gotta go. Including their gop coward enablers.
And this Kentucky fool, foisted upon us by clueless Hazard County voters, is highly capable of siding with the enemies of the American people.
And that RINO SOB McConnell has never been a credible republican senator. He’s one of the main reasons we need term limits.
Crap like this why I quit the Republican party last month. Trump not my ideal candidate, but these people are douchebags.
McConnell is sold out to the Hillary/Islsmonazi money. We must replace him at the first available election - without fail.
One wonders why he believes that he is "intelligent and capable" enough to sit in judgment on the "credibility" of the millions and millions of American citizens who voted in the Primaries for Trump.
Perhaps he is not even cognizant enough at this age to understand that his words are not challenges to the "credibility" of Trump, but represent a personal judgment of the moral choices of millions of his fellow citizens.
Thomas Jefferson, that genius Author of our Declaration of Independence and President, was much more humble in his judgment of his fellow citizens' opinions:
Consider Jefferson's observation:"State a moral case to a ploughman and a professor. The former will decide it as well, and often better than the latter, because he has not been led astray by artificial rules. - Thomas Jefferson
All the so called campaign professionals, fundraisers and bundlers that McConnell knows very well have been left in the lurch by Trump. He’s parroting their gripes.
‘...portray themselves as white knights fighting against...’
Perhaps in the fairytale land of DC thats believable but in the rest of America not so much. The republicans, the opposition party, have yet to act that way. Their role for the past 8 yrs has been one of milquetoast groveling, search for the ever elusive backbone, capitulating to Barry’s every whim, back pedalling...in short anything other than true opposition. So, if they view themselves as white knight rescuers they better think again. The reality is theyre a pack of cowards and trough feeding pigs. It would be refreshing if their respective states made other arrangements for representation.
“...people are looking for a level of seriousness that is typically conveyed by having a prepared text and Teleprompter and staying on message.”
That statement labels McConnell for the idiot he is.
McConnell can’t imagine a man being seventy years old who has not sold his soul.
McConnell: “Trump clearly needs to change, in my opinion, to win the general election. What Ive said to him both publicly and privately: ‘Youre a great entertainer. You turn on audiences. Youre good before a crowd. You have a lot of Twitter followers. That worked fine for you in the primaries. But now that you are in the general, people are looking for a level of seriousness that is typically conveyed by having a prepared text and Teleprompter and staying on message.’
You can bet your bottom dollar McConnell never uttered those words to Trump. Trump would have told him where to go and ran him out of the room. Look for Trump, if he reads the quote, to say the conversation never happened. No way this SOB talked to Donald Trump like a child.
I wonder which member of his staff has a Freeper account
...people are looking for a level of seriousness that is typically conveyed by having a prepared text and Teleprompter and staying on message.
Two things come to my mind...
One: Hillary ‘Teleprompter saying ‘sigh’ and she says it’
Two: obuma’s teleprompter went down and it was ‘if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if’....
