Quote from Cameron
I was absolutely clear [in the referendum] about my belief that Britain is stronger, safer and better off inside the European Union. And I made clear the referendum was about this and this alone, not the future of any single politician, including myself.
But the British people have made a very clear decision to take a different path and as such I think the country requires fresh leadership to take it in this direction.
I will do everthing I can as prime minister to steady the ship over the coming weeks and months. But I do not think it would be right for me to try to be the captain that steers our country to its next destination.
This is not a decision I have taken lightly. But I do believe its in the national interest to have a period of stability and then the new leadership required.
There is no need for a precise timetable today. But in my view we should aim to have a new prime minister in place by the start of the Conservative party conference in October.

Really? A one day trip is going to change the election? A trip that includes a press conference where it will be clear the a foreign leader who disrespected Donald Trump has just gone down in flames?
Statism and sodomy has its base in the cities. The bigger, the badder.
Not one whit different than the average GOP
72-73 percent
Incredible compared to our nationwide turnouts
City people are accustomed to,even actually demand,MORE rules and less freedom for everyone. They also expect, nay demand, government “help”with all life’s difficulties.Urban life is inherently socialistic. And the more crowded the city the crazier the rats....errrr,people.
I love this. Cameron allowed the vote only because he thought he could steal the election, and the actual outcome blew up his stupid face. Did he really think that stealing seats from UKIP in Parliament would work out in his favor? Maybe the Tories can get a leader who actually cares about Britain.
Is there another Churchill around?
Time to clean house. Thank God.
Obama loves the EU just like you do. That says something about the “validity” of your opinion in this matter.
Wow. That is one of the more idiotic things I have ever seen posted here! Congratulations!
“Trumps trip to Scotland may have cost him the election.”
Thanks you mister concern troll. I am sure Trump’s visit to Scotland will be on the mind of .000001% of the voters in November.
The fact of the matter is that the EU was and is a good idea in its lowest level as a union of different EUropean countries, preventing war.
Do you think it would be better for European countries to return to internecine war?
I never said the EU was perfect -- it's FAR from that -- but on the one issue of preventing war and on the second issue for allowing free trade across countries it has succeeded
or did you not read my sentence They should move it to a confederation type, not the ever-closing union
Churchill was good as a wartime leader — very good. But he was not so good as a peace-time leader. Different qualities needed
I despise Cameron as well, he’d fit right in with Lindsey Graham. But I will say this...at least he had the honor and decency to resign immediately and pledge support for the implementation.
Can you imagine Obama? He would say screw the will of the people and work to thwart it. Hell, so would Romney.
correct — it blew up heavily in his face. He really thought he’d get UKIP voters to switch to him. He never really thought about the strong euroscepticism in the Tory party
Indians and Red Chinese are moving into upscale neighborhoods here as they take the few remaining lucrative jobs from Americans (they are the “white collar replacement Americans”); the county in question that added Korean is one of the wealthiest in the US (right across the Hudson River from midtown Manhattan). “Anglo-Americans” are literally disappearing from the NYC metro area...
That’s more the Eurozone than the EU
Our government has been naturalizing people for decades that barely speak English; they all vote, and many simply vote themselves more and more of the taxpayers’ money...
That’s more the Eurozone than the EU. Greece was bailed out by the Eurozone. Poland didn’t pay for Greece, but Estonia did. Your arguments are against the euro — and I agree that the Euro was and is a stupid idea unless it was limited to a few countries (like say Germany-Netherlands-Finland)
The EU is a joke. While you lament its demise, I will celebrate its slow death. Hopefully the political pendulum will swing back to the right and a little warfare in Europe will clean out the muzzie invaders.
