You need to get your facts straight again. Huckster was elevated, not elected, Governor. He ascended to the office on the heels of Jim Guy Tucker’s resignation following his criminal conviction. He was popular initially (including with Conservatives) who had high hopes that he might even be Presidential material. The GOP made rapid strides during the early years, getting half the federal delegation and electing a Lt Governor, Win Paul Rockefeller. Huckster was handily elected in his own right to a full term in 1998 by a wide 21% margin (60-39%) against a credible Democrat.

However, the Conservative façade began to crumble after that, and all of what I previously cited began to rear its ugly head. He had no problems with illegals flooding the state for the Tyson factories, he showed shockingly reckless disregard on the issue of pardons/commutations which had a horrific consequences. His cronyism towards the state GOP saw a rapid contraction in stark contrast to every other Southern state that was moving rapidly into the GOP camp. By 2002, his popularity was rapidly on the decline and he won by an unimpressive 6% margin over a statewide Dem officeholder (and we lost the incumbent GOP Senator as a result).

His last term solidified his gross incompetence as Governor with more of the same and doubling-down. He left office so unpopular and so crippled the party that the liberal Democrat Attorney General blasted the Republican nominee by an embarrassing 15% margin in 2006.

But, please, hey, don’t let the facts get in the way of your opinions. It seems the only reason why you seem to support such proven execrable choices is that you are one who just wants to see left-wingers elected and Conservatives go down in flames. You’re a big booster of that Socialist Senator in Illinois, Mark Kirk, too, if I remember. Speaks volumes about you.

Pawlenty couldn’t carry a bag of groceries, let alone Minnesota in a Presidential race. He’s laughably weak and has been nowhere to be seen on the political radar in 6 years. He would’ve been a one-term wonder in 2006 had his opponent’s running mate not made a verbal gaffe going into the elections.

Ah, saw your reply after I wrote up mine. Mac_twuck has already made it plain he likes left-wingers (he’s a big champion of Mark Kirk and the IL Combine) and doesn’t care about Huckster’s record of corruption and incompetence. Since Huckster would help to sink Trump, that would serve Mac’s agenda.

He’s only popular to you, Mac_Twuck. Conservatives know Huckster is a tin-plated leftist phony.

So Gov. Greg Abbott should be your premier pick. Watch the media try to attack someone who is in a wheelchair.

Palin is disqualified for endorsing marxist Bill Walker for AK Governor, and irregardless of that I think she’d be an awful choice. I doubt she’s interested anyway.

Of these 20 from the article

Cotton, eh sure, not terribly experienced.

Corker, no. This is the sew your lips to the establishment’s butt pick. I like to see them getting along with Trump but this would go too far.

Christie Creme, no.

Enrst, eh sure but I don’t think woman for woman sake is a good idea, she’s been in the Senate for 5 minutes.

Gingrich, hell no.

Sessions, he’s old but yes, experienced and conservative

General Flynn, IS A DEMOCRAT, HELL NO.

Condi Rice, give me a break,

Rick Scott, lightweight, no.

Perry, I wouldn’t pick him but he’s much better than most names they put on these lists, I can live with him and not be disgusted or baffled

General McChrystal, look, a political neophyte who’s unknown to voters is not a good match for this candidate. Is he Paton? McArthur? Ike?

Pence, he’s ok, he did something disappointing that I can’t recall at the moment (something to do with the homos and a religious freedom bill?), but he’s running for reelection and it’s a competitive race. McCrory, whom you mention, has the same issue.

Martha McSally, a freshman Congresswoman from a competitive district who leans RINO? Give me a break. They are just grasping for women to mention. Silly.

Rubio, I actually think he would be a good pick but he’s running for Senate, which I think is best

Jim Webb, HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would be loathe to vote to put that commie POS a heartbeat from the White House. I would encourage the convention to reject such a pick, and I think they would. Unacceptable.

Walker, yes, I won’t rule him out just because he didn’t light the world on fire during his time in this historically bizarre race.

Blackburn, if you’re going with a woman this is one of more logical names mentioned. Much better than most names on this list.

Kasich, um NO!!!

Rudy G, is this a joke? Don’t even get me started. The electoral college issue is irrelevant since they won’t carry NY anyway (or come close to needing it if they somehow do) but...jeez the same state, that’s a laughable suggestion. I would fire the author for making it if he worked for me. Oh yeah and NOT PRO LIFE, do we want that to be an issue? No. Do we want a certain comedy sketch of Rudy dressed up in drag being played on the news? No. Ugh. Come on.

Scott Brown, Not a conservative! No! Not a winner either, he lost, in 2 different states. What are his asserts exactly? He’s “good-looking”? Preposterous.

Of those on your list the ones I would give the most serious consideration to besides the already mentioned Sessions are Cruz, Abbott, Lee, and Keating, though Keating is old that’s a pretty strong Cheneyesque pick and interesting idea. Many of the Congressman you mentioned are good and interesting picks but I don’t know. I’d take Blum off because that is the same thing as giving away his seat, and he’s just a freshman. Rohrabacher is the most experienced, also the oldest.

Two things we can count on with a Trump VP pick:

1) It will be someone outside the box, just like he’s outside the box. He will undercut his message if he picks a long time political insider. I wouldn’t be surprised if he picks someone who really has been apolitical most of his/her life.

2) It will be someone who creates a tremendous amount of media buzz. He’ll aim to grab the media limelight for a week or more. A fascinating person. A celebrity.

I wish Mark Cuban wasn’t such a leftist.

I think Cuban would be a poor match even if he wasn’t slime, it would be like Trump/Trump. Trump/Trump may appeal to Trump but I don’t know...perhaps it wouldn’t, I don’t think he’d want to be overshadowed or would want anyone with a huge ego (like Newt or Christie).

He has said he wants Washington experience and I also would recommend that.

Put a gun to my head and I’d guess Corker, just a bad gut feeling, to even have his name mentioned, I’d have never suggested him in a million years, he does not fit your parameters at all and definitely and strongly undercuts Trump’s message!

I really want to see a proven conservative and not an apoltical type, I have have such distaste for them that I’d almost prefer a RINO.

This is about the time I get pretty ansty for the VP pick. I was pretty pleased with the last 3 (Ryan, Palin, Cheney) at the time but question all of them with 20/20 hindsight.

I saw Mark Schwieker on that list too. He was actually a pretty decent guy for PA.

Too bad he didn’t run for Governor in 2002; he had a pretty good lead over Rendell.

No. I’m not Pawlenty. C’mon. He was a good governor of Minnesota. If Romney had picked Pawlenty instead of Ryan, they would have been in the White House today.

In 2007-2008 Huckabee ran a successful insurgent presidential campaign and won primaries in Iowa, W. Virginia, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Kansas, and Louisiana. His popularity with a large swath of the conservative Republican base is a matter of record and not subject to your dopey biased interpretations.

Too bad they couldn’t have drafted Schweiker to take out a massively unpopular Gov. Corbett in the 2014 primary instead of allowing that prima donna to take the PA GOP on a cruise on the Titanic.

You funny, Timmy. Willard wasn’t either a serious nor legit candidate. A ringer put up by the uniparty establishment to stop a Conservative from taking the GOP nomination and knocking off their boy Zero (same with McQueeg in ‘08). Reincarnating Ronald Reagan running as Willard’s VP wouldn’t have helped.

Tell you whut, Timbo... How ‘bout running for one of the Senate seats in MN like you planned to do back in 2002 ? The two extra-chromosome moonbats (especially the one who actually had himself photographed wearing diapers) make the state look really bad.

Wow... interesting. Never thought of that. That would have been a great matchup.

Instead, we got the idiot Marxist Wolf.

The Southern-Fried Willard still couldn’t pull off a victory, not that I’d have voted for that illegal-loving, murderer-pardoning left wing fraud. Of course, between him, McQueeg and Willard, it’s no wonder the party was (deliberately) such a thorough joke. Too bad a lot of folks couldn’t figure that out.

But as you were already corrected, Huckster, for those who actually knew his record (something for which you already stated you don’t care about) was NOT popular with Conservatives. If he actually HAD been, Mac_Twuck, he’d have easily romped against fellow leftist RINO McQueeg (or Willard).

Oh, and yes, I am biased... I’m an unapologetic Conservative and political historian who actually knows, ya know, the facts about him and his record. I’m just not biased towards thinking Huckster is the hottest thing since sliced bread, or other leftist rot (Mark Kirk) as you demonstrate, and on a Conservative website no less.

The good news is Wolf will be a one-termer. The bad news is he’s already doing his damndest to harm PA. Getting the AG office back this November is paramount (along with carrying the state for Trump).

Flapping your mangina behind my back, really shows your integrity.

Kirk was a better choice in 2010 and needed for a GOP Senate majority, not to mention the psychological impact of replacing Sen. Obama with a Republican.

The GOP majority didn’t bear fruit and now Kirk is opposed to Trump, so he’s expendable. I’d advise Trump supporters in Illinois to send the GOPe a message and vote Kirk out.

Given your political IQ, I’ll wager you have a problem with that anlaysis.

I wont bother. At least half of them arent worth the dynamite to blow them up.

I'd put this at close to 80% are NOT worth the cost of the dynamite.

But, but, Kirk is a hard-core Socialist ! How can you possibly have a problem with him, he’s got a “Republican” label, after all ! That’s all that matters, right ? The more libs in office with an “R” label, the better, right ? Voting record doesn’t matter, right ? After all, didn’t matter for Huckster in your estimation, so how does it matter for Kirk all of a sudden ?

Hey, he’s voting exactly like I said he would six years ago, worse even, and why I warned voting him into the Senate in the first place would just place a corrupt hardcore Socialist Combiner puppet into the R caucus. You thought it was a capital idea, yes, sir ! Your hypocrisy is showing, Mac.
