Daily Caller News Foundation VA Proposes To Remove Ban On Transgender Surgery For Vets

The Department of Veterans Affairs has proposed to a rule to remove the ban on transgender sex change surgery for veterans, which has existed since the 1990s.
According to the proposed regulation, gender reassignment surgery wasn’t previously considered medically necessary for gender dysphoria, a condition transgender individuals claims makes them feel as though they were born in the wrong body and assigned the wrong gender.

Veterans would do a lot better if Disney were running the VA

Veterans Affairs Secretary Bob McDonald is claiming he was either misunderstood or that he misspoke when he said, “When you go to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line? Or what’s important? What’s important is, what’s your satisfaction with the experience?”
McDonald has appropriately received blowback for this tone-deaf comment, and he backtracked 33 hours later (who’s counting?). But his comment was not only insensitive. It was also wrong.
Of course health care is a matter of life and death and shouldn’t be compared to a tilt-a-whirl ride at an amusement park. And obviously wait times are an important part of how quality of care should be measured.
Even worse for the VA secretary, his revealing comment speaks to a terrible truth for America’s veterans: They’d actually be better off if a private company, like Disney, were in charge of their care.
The VA has been in hot water over waiting times since 2014, when journalists revealed that scores of veterans died while waiting for care in the Phoenix VA system on “unofficial” and manipulated waiting lists. Further investigations by the VA inspector general, Congress and the White House revealed that the problem was not isolated to Phoenix, but actually affected tens of thousands of veterans nationwide.
Nearly two years later, wait times are still too long, and the feds still aren’t being transparent enough about them. The VA Office of the Inspector General reported that 21 of 38 facilities investigated were using “improper scheduling.” USA Today explained:
“The problems included schedulers entering the next available date as a veteran’s desired date, thereby reflecting no wait time. In some cases, they found managers directing them to do it. In others, VA staff had lists of patients outside the system, which meant their actual wait time was unknown.”

I am so glad that the VA is so well funded that it has money left over after taking care of veteran’s health issues to spend on this totally unnecessary and damaging cosmetic procedure. < /sarc >

Yes, before the internet, we were in the dark. But knowledge is for crap if you don't act on it. I've been here since '99, reading the same 'ol bitching, moaning and groaning from the same bunch of lazy-a**es. The internet is useless if it doesn't spur you into action.
What does work is, as you said, organizing. Get a couple dozen PO'd rabble rousers like yourself together, make the protest signs, then camp out in front of your congresscritters' local offices. Make sure you tell the local media, 'cause they love that kind of stuff.

Maybe my husband should go demand sex surgery instead of asking for his benefit from being exposed to asbestos and now having mesothelioma??? I’m so surprised that there haven’t been any angry vets or their families going crazy and tearing up a VA clinic like that black woman who was videotaped going crazy over her rejected EBT card! That’s cuz we tend to be the ones who get in line, take orders, man up and take things. But I can tell you we are reaching our limit!!! Praying Trump will become President and fix this problem!
You are exactly right. The VA refuses to let Vets with agent orange caused cancers get the best treatment that might save or prolong their lives, citing expense, but will now allow transgender surgery?
