DELTA, Pa. (AP) A couple who got lost in Pennsylvania while driving to New York entered the property of a nuclear plant by cutting a chain at a gate, apparently in a quest to get back on the right road, authorities said.
The Chesapeake, Virginia, couple were driving from Baltimore on Friday night when they got onto an access road at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station, owned by Exelon. The driver told police he didnt see two No trespassing signs when he cut the chain on the gate, The York Daily Record (http://bit.ly/27XVuF5) reported.
Exelon spokeswoman Krista Merkel said the couple never posed a threat to the plant and security was monitoring them the entire time they were on plant property.
It seemed they inadvertently made it to our property and were trying to find their way back out, Merkel said. They thought the only way they could get back was to cut the fence.
Police initially said, after consulting with security staff, that the man and woman appeared to have made it to a highly security sensitive area where radioactive material is transferred from the main power plant. If the couple had gone inside a nearby outbuilding, the plant would have been placed on lockdown and there was a possibility of lethal force being used, authorities said in court documents.

First of all, what are their names?
Second, does everyone carry bolt cutters with them strong enough to cut a chain?
Let’s have the cell phone numbers, to and from.
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?
Nope.
Intentional.
They were testing the system.
I hope they lose everything they own and are ruined fore the rest of their lives and everyone related to them suffers.
This opens the door to others who see how far this filth was able to penatrate.
I know, and they kept defending it- ...yeah we had eyes on them the whole time. if they’d gone in that one building then yeah, we would’ve nailed them.
sheesh.
I know that if Im ever traveling in an area with nuclear power plants, I always take bolt cutters along in case I have to cut any security chains. Always! Not to mention needing them when you get lost so you can go back through all those locked gates you came through earlier
You think???
Do you think they are enviro whackos????
You know...You are right...Why else would they cut through a chained gate???
Even IF they’re lost, they would know not to go there...
I’m with you...Throw them under the jail....
Now that’s funny.
They don’t look muzzie, but they were up to no good. Probably looking to steal stuff. If they had muzzie names, I would think otherwise. It was not a situation of getting lost. Who the hell carries bolt cutters.
That sounds plausible. They may just have been too stupid to realize they'd hit a checkpoint. There was drug paraphernalia in their car - they may have been looking to support their habit.
I'll bet the cops were laughing their butts off at the "we were lost" explanation.
Lets have the cell phone numbers, to and from.

That would be good, wouldn’t it? Do you suppose the LEOs have looked into that?
I guess the gates, fences and chains will all have to be electrified in the future.
An 18 year old car a his “girlfriend” is five years older than him?
I’m thinking she is the one the cops should be looking into.
Some people do this thing - it's called "TURNING AROUND".
And no way, no how do I believe this was because they were lost.
Yep right next to my battery cables I always have my bolt cutters! NOT!
Wow serously?
