Really interesting stuff from National Review's Eliana Johnson, whose latest campaign dispatch sheds light on just how close Newt Gingrich has become with the presumptive Republican nominee -- and how hard the former House Speaker is said to be lobbying behind the scenes for a spot on the ticket. Are you ready for Trump/Gingrich 2016, America?
Gingrich has, in effect, launched his own campaign to secure the nomination. I think Newt is lobbying to be the vice president, and I think their people are paying a lot of attention to him, says Ed Rollins, a Republican operative and former Gingrich staffer now working for a super PAC supporting Trumps candidacy.*snip*
Gingrich has a reputation for insinuating himself into campaigns by firing off dozens of e-mails brimming with ideas that range from brilliant to insane. While its a quality that has irritated previous presidential candidates such as John McCain and Mitt Romney, sources say that Trump has come to value the former speakers opinions. They talk every day, says a source familiar with the relationship, who claims that Gingrich e-mails Trump, campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and campaign manager Corey Lewandowski countless times a day....Gingrichs influence within Trump World is widespread. Inside Trumps newly established campaign offices in Washington, D.C., his fingerprints are everywhere. Right from the minute I joined we were told that Newt will have his hand in every major policy effort, says one Trump aide. So one of the things I do when Im researching or writing anything, in addition to looking at what Trump has said about anything, I look at what Newt has said.

Yep, transition to Chief of Staff beginning year 4.
Move Rubio or similar to VP to set up for 2020.
It isn’t hard to connect the dots regarding electronic medical records in these articles:

Both Trump and Gingrich have birthdays three days apart in June. Trump turns 70 and Newt turns 73. There should be someone younger on the ticket.
“I think hed be a great addition, hes one smart dude.....”
But he’s also a loose cannon, and people either don’t know or forget that Newt alienated the conservatives who made him Speaker.
Newt could be useful to a President Trump, but more as a political guide and advisor than holding down an official role.
“Financially they probably are. I doubt they are able to stay afloat now without someones largess.”
I suspect that some large crony-capitalist GOPe donor keeps NR afloat. That fits their party line.
How about Chief of Staff Gingrich?
I hope not. I think he’s a great idea guy - better as a voice to weigh options.
I am reading all of these lemmings....one after another boosting Newt. We are supposed to be the smart ones. The ones who do research on people.
Newt is a globalist.
Newt is an elitist.
Newt is no good on immigration.
Newt is for H-1B visas.
Newt looks at the world as a global “community”
WAKE UP !!
Fair enough.
Trump has always had a flair for audacity (Fredrick’s must have attribute for great leaders). Consider this scenario.
Trump nominates an active military man who immediately resigns his post and accepts the VP slot.
Wonder what the reaction would be for ISIS, the Kremlin, Beijing; among others!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See post# 148.
I’m not buying it. I’m voting Trump either way... I just hope he’ll pick someone smarter.
Could not agree more.
Newt is top drawer on legislation, he is a great thinker, bold and plain spoken, and a fine historian.
There are absolutely no draw backs to having his counsel on hand.
We need some grown ups on board, but seriously we need to pray for a patriot who is similarly informed, confident, and strong, but younger, as VP for TRUMP. Our country is at stake.
Jeff Sessions swims in my head on the basis of TRUST worthiness. Who else? I just keep coming back to TRUST, and that leads to Jeff. He is no globalist, nor remotely connected to their interests, which eventually caught up with and exposed Cruz, imho.
Newt anywhere near the next president would freak out the Clintons, as they spiral down and out and Newt aspiring into the proximity of the West Wing in any regular capacity.
That alone would please me very much, but so far I still remain a Jeff Sessions fan.
B U M P
Not a good idea.
Gingrich can help Trump in the WH, but will hurt him in the election. IMO The electorate will not look upon Gingrich favorably at all. He will cost Trump votes.
FABULOUS photo of two darling people. Thank you.
Newt, with Calista, and having been received in the Catholic Church has made him a changed man, and brought him to a positively inspirational peak, as a man and a statesman.
No -- but Imho this is a diversionary tactic.

I hope and pray that you are wrong.
Good grief, you really are a lofo poster and in spades.
