Trump’s VP Pick Prediction
Scott Adams' Blog Dilbert ^ | Posted May 17th, 2016 | Scott Adams

Posted on 05/17/2016 9:15:26 AM PDT by GilGil

As I said, predicting a VP choice is nearly impossible until the last minute because the situation is fluid. A candidate might need some help in a key state, based on current polling. Or the opponent might open up a new line of attack that needs a defense. A lot can change in a few weeks.

But as of today, and according to the Master Persuader filter, I put the odds at 90% than Trump picks Brown as his running mate.

“So is Kasich for the Ohio win. Yikes.”

Kasich is very unstable. No telling what he will say. He is probably the most dimoKKKRAT like of the Presidential candidates we had running.

Newt all the way. He meets Trump’s list of particulars for his choice to a tee.
Newt won’t lose the debate like Ryan did. Newt has been the most effective Republican Speaker of all time. The only GOP Speaker to ever balance the budget, in fact he did it twice.

Newt could make a great VP and Chief of Staff at the same time, since VP doesn’t do much most of the time. Newt has vision, Trump has vision. A perfect pairing.

I’m not saying there will not be a role in the administration for Scott Brown, but veep is not it. I just think Trump is more of a strategic thinker.

I still think it will be a conservative woman from a southern or western state or someone from Ohio like Jim Jordan, Steven Chabot or Rob Portman.

I’m convinced Hillary will choose Bernie Sanders or Sherrod Brown from Ohio.

Why is an old VP such a bad thing?

Optics. It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if the candidate himself were younger, but as we all know Trump is going to turn 70 in June. Taking what HRC feels is her due away from her is going to be a nasty fight. There is no way in hell that she will pick Bernie as VP - most likely Castro or another younger person to balance her age.

Trump seems to have no problem surrounding himself with young, smart people. His sons, his daughters, his wife, staffers, his TV spokeswoman, et al. I feel they serve to keep him young thinking and in touch. A VP pick who could do the same would be awesome. Just my 2 cents.

It is going to be a pick that Trump and the GOPe come to an agreement on. My bet is either Kacich to bring in Ohio or Rubio to take care of the Castro for rat Hispanic VP choice.

“My top 11...

Condoleezza Rice
Susana Martinez
Mitt Romney
Rob Portman
Ben Carson
Greg Abbott
Jan Brewer
Scott Brown
Newt Gingrich
Sarah Palin
Rick Scott”

Funny thing. I got an email from the Orange County GOP asking who I liked for VP. Lots of people on the list like around 20 and pretty much the same as yours except for one glaring omission. Newt. There was a write in spot and maybe they did that to get donations as they were asking for money.

I understand.

Maybe I will get banned for stating an opinion, but this country is in trouble, and those of us old loyal folk need to get ready to stand up and speak out.

I’m planning on voting for Trump for the same reason I always choose my candidates: he’s the best we’ve got.

But he’s not perfect, far from it. None of them are. Stating nothing but positives and praise for a flawed candidate (as ALL of them are) is suicidal.

If Trump gets elected, we’re all going to have to remind him regularly that we elected 2016 Trump, not the Trump of the past with some pretty heavy personal and political baggage. I think he can do the job, but he’s going to need our support and pressure. Clear-eyed. No rose colored glasses.

Trump is Trump, and that could be a powerful thing if he remembers the base that put him where he is.

I hope Free Republic rises to the challenge.

Very wrong. Trump is nothing at all like Romney. You calling him a liberal will not make him one.

Romney was helping Cruz, the faux-conservative, remember last month?

I can't stand Kasich, but politically he's a two-fer: He assures an Ohio win for Trump which based on all I've heard is a MUST in order to win the Presidency. Secondly, Kasich serves to temper would be voters worried about Trump's abrupt 'right leaning' positions.

Or he could say 'ta hell with it' and pick Judge Jeanine Pirro. Talk about two firebrands. LOL

I agree that optics is the main issue. Trump will look too old if he picks a young VP like Rubio.

The VP is not supposed to balance anything. It just gives voters a preview of cabinet appointments. Picking someone who is not qualified is a red flag.

The president is the one being judged. The VP just goes to funerals.

I disagree with you. Women are not shallow and do not vote for looks. However, that being said there are ill-educated women AND MEN who do vote for candidates for very foolish reasons (and because their families have always been democrats.) And just to remind you, the greatest destruction the US has ever ever endured, resulting in the greatest carnage, death, and tearing asunder of families was the Civil War, and MEN were entirely responsible for that!

Indeed there have been some candidates who may not have been elected without the female vote, and you don’t like them and neither do I (and no woman in my family ever voted for these people either) BUT neither you nor I know just how much worse off our country could be, or what kind of terrible candidates might have been elected without women voters.

And further, Oh “Superior Elite Lord & Master” I do not want to live in a country where half of the population has no voice, and neither should you. If you can suppress and enslave half the human race, treating them as chattel and less than human, who is to say that there would not be richer more powerful men, your mind set, who decide that there should be additional segments of our population who also should be suppressed and enslaved, maybe even YOU!

So you think men alone should rule and have the only say in how a country is run. That women should be taxed without representation, serve in the military without representation, raise their familes alone when the father is absent for whatever reason, all without any voice or representation.

Do you think the middle east govts are wonderful? Is that the kind of govt you want, are they great places to live? Why don’t you go live there, women have no rights whatsoever, indeed you can torture and even murder women with impunity.
