Former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore, who also once ran the RNC, was one of the original candidates running against Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination.

Now, Gilmore has a major announcement to make: He is officially endorsing Donald Trump for President!

While Gilmore’s campaign never gained traction, he is popular in the key state of Virginia and could be helpful with working with the Republican establishment to help bring them on board during these critical weeks before the RNC convention in Cleveland, Ohio.

Appearing on “CNN Newsroom” With Brooke Baldwin, Gilmore said that part of Trump’s appeal has been “a feeling of strength, a feeling of decisiveness, [and] a commitment to change which the American people absolutely people want.”

Trump is “very different from Hillary Clinton and that’s the Republican advantage in the race so I think right now what we need to do is focus on unifying the Republican Party and not try to overthink all this too much as we go forward,” Gilmore said.

The former governor of Virginia said, “I think that the American people are beginning to rally behind the guy they voted for in the primaries.” Via The Daily Caller

After his CNN interview (below) he Tweeted the following out:

And I saw Reince Priebus and Newt Gingrich walk over Chris Wallace as he tried to find a way to get traction for the 30 year old 'dirt" the NYT and WaPo have been trying to dig up.

I'ts obvious Wallace is in the bag for Hillary as Newt pointed out about the NYT and WaPo and those who pout their stories ahead of the real and current issues - such as Clinton's flying around so much with a pedophile and ditching his security detail and the issues that the people care about - vs. some hit pieces that can't do better than to dredge up some 30 year old stories that are suspect in themselves.....

It was a beautiful thing to watch Newt work (Newt for Veep!!!) and it was interesting to see Priebus defend Trump and deflect the blatant attacks by the assumption that the data was true and relevant by those who were in a tizzy about it - he actually handled himself (and Wallace) rather well....

I’ve attended two District Conventions this spring where former Governor Gilmore has delivered a powerful unity message. He will be touring the state between now and November helping remind and inform voters what’s at stake and why President Trump is so important, even if he’s not perfect.

How true. No one heard he was running, nor that he quit. Never understand these several candidates each cycle that have zero visibility or traction and yet try to run. Had I not lived in Virginia for 19 years, I wouldn’t have a clue about him.

He seems to have recognized that Trump has won the real battles and is trying to keep from being bulldozed like all the others.

I wonder how long the "run a 3rd Party candidate" idiots will take to come to the reality of Trump.
