Newt Gingrich says he’d probably say yes if asked to run as Donald Trump’s veep
The Washington Times ^ | May 15, 2016 | Valerie Richardson

With the Democratic and Republican presidential nominees all but decided, attention turned Sunday to the possible contenders for vice president.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said he and his wife, Calista, “could be lured into a new path” if presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump were to ask him to join the ticket.

“If he can convince Calista and me that it’s doable and it’s serious and that we would in fact contribute, I think we’d be very hard pressed not to say yes,” Mr. Gingrich said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Another even bigger disaster would be Sarah Palin
I love Sarah, but you are correct. Plenty of good men out there for Trump to select.

McCain’s mistake was to muzzle her. We had nothing to fear from Obama, and she was getting into the way of that.

I agree that Newt would be an invaluable asset to Trump. Further, he is a super sharp speaker, unafraid to call out the media or anyone else, and his sense of humor is second to none. There might be some old baggage, but the pros outweigh the cons IMHO.

Safe bet, Newt is not on the short list. His fruit was past it’s prime 20 years ago.

Newt is great and would make a great VP. However, maybe his chief advisor.

New Face?? This isn't high school. We're looking for experience and wisdom and that comes with age.

He really has no baggage......not compared to Hillary, the enabler, and Bubba the pig.

I’m stunned at Carson’s short list. It’s like he’s looking at their delegates instead of Trump’s side kick.

It’s bot appropriate and usual for candidates to talk it over with their wives. We went round and round with Romney...IIRC.

Well I do hope I’m wrong. I would love to see him go up against whatever made for Tumblr VP that Hillary will dump on us.

Baggage, what does that even mean? Until Herself came along, it was thought that having huge personal problems could be somehow a hindrance to being electable, yet Herself managed to successfully outwit all but a couple guys on her personal ride to the horizon. That Herself has never actually gotten to the horizon has more to do with puppet masters pulling strings, than because of any character flaws, which are painfully obvious to almost everybody except a rather small coterie in the immediate circle of Herself.

Newt Gingrich may have some baggage, but he is a far more likable person than Herself.

I agree.

Newt would be a good choice.

I like Newt, Sessions and Palin, but I will accept anyone Trump selects.

That short list makes absolutely no sense to me.
Newt may be chief of staff and Christie AG.
Forget Cruz, Rubio and Kasich (BTW: Tomorrow night, Kasich is on Anderson Cooper 360 @8PM ET to talk about whether he would run as Trump’s Veep, which he has already declined)
While Palin may be a nice person and true conservative, she simply is a terrible candidate on the stump and in debate.
I just watched Tennessee Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn on Youtube from Face the Nation this morning; she is vibrant and makes a great case for Trump. I just wish there was a woman running mate that would help Trump with the electoral college. I’m looking at Joni Ernst of Iowa who has a reputation for blunt talk and that might mesh well with Trump. And, there is New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez.

He is a political version of Trump and a visionary.

Gingrich is not a priest, we are not electing a priest.
I would also like to add that God has used many flawed people to do His great things.

SO WHAT IF NEWT GINGRICH IS NOT PERFECT, FORGET THE PC!
We need NEWT.
I would have gladly voted him for President in 2012.

Newt is for everything that Trump isn’t...Trump would have to give up his ‘Make America Great Again’ meme because that’s certainly not Newt’s agenda...Newt is far more suited to a Romney or a Bush...

Nwt would be a disaster. I really like him, but as VP he brings too much baggage to the table.

Media created baggage...........There is nothing wrong with Newt and in fact, I think he's the most intelligent individual in the Republican party.

He would be a great asset to Trump as a VP and help temper Trump's lack of political savvy.......

To express it in a metaphor, kinda like an Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Sky Walker type of relationship..........

Go Trump/Newt

Thank you both.

As Chief of Staff Newt could give Trump excellent advice but from Newt’s POV that job would be too much work and near zero recognition. He has too many things of his own going on to get shoved behind a curtain. As VP he could not only advise he could also circulate as spokesperson, diplomat and the VP’s normal role as President of the Senate.
