Mike Lee(R-Utah) said Wednesday that he is not ready to endorse presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump
"I have not supported Donald Trump up to this point, I have not endorsed him," Lee said, according to The Washington Examiner.
"I have some concerns with him. He scares me to death; so does Hillary Clinton
. There is no easy choice right now." Lee had previously endorsed Ted Cruz
, before the Texas senator ended his presidential bid earlier this month. At the time, he said Cruz had a "proven record of fighting for our conservative values and for the issues that matter most to Americans."
The Utah senator said he plans to continue following the election and will make a choice in the future.
"I'll make the decision as best I can," he said, "but I'm not there yet."
Lee now joins several other Republican leaders, who have said they are not ready to endorse Trump or said that they don't plan to vote for the presumptive nominee in a general election.
Speaker Paul Ryan said last week that he was "just not ready" to endorse the presumptive GOP nominee.
Forgive me for being crude but people who talk this way come off as such sniveling coward wussies, and believe me I’d like to go further.
Everyone is SCARED of something and it’s why America isn’t great anymore.
What’s conservative about undercutting your own party’s presumptive nominee while giving aid and comfort to Pelosi, Hillary, Sanders, etc.?
“Fox just claimed that Paul Ryan represents the MOST conservative wing of the party.”
I’m thinking the TDS FReaks who regurgitated their “consistent conservatism” and fiercely defended Megyn Kelly before leaving FR have found new admiration for “Speaker” Ryan.
Is he a Mormon and Romney surrogate?
There is no doubt that even a retarded cat would be better for us than Hillary... my main point (and what I think Rep Lee is stating here) is that Trump also raises many concerns and negative possibilities, and that we should be holding his feet to the fire to avoid these already. Just because he won't intentionally sink us (as Hillary is eager to do) doesn't mean that everything he will do will be a positive. He is, politically, unmolded clay at the moment, and it should be up to his most ardent supporters to be molding him into what we need, especially right now. Since I was not among his most ardent supporters (to put it mildly), I can only encourage those who are to do so. Instead, they seem to still be groveling and worshipping his toenail clippings.
The Trump campaign has been awesome in not only planning on making America and Americans first again, it has flushed out the treacherous politicos within the conservative fold. Kind of like the CIA smoking out a mole in their midst.
Stupid me, I kinda sorta believed these people were my ally but now I see how naive I was. I sort of had a inkling when I would see my area overrun by the third-world and economic and social decline among the middle class and I would turn on mainstream conservative radio and I’d only hear about “the Constitution... conservative principles... ideals of the Founding Fathers... free trade... tax cuts...” I should’ve been suspicious of these standard, politically-acceptable (impotent) mantras about free trade being pitched by people with law degrees or no degrees who were not affected by the day-to-day burdens of working-class America.
FReerepublic was ecstatic over Ryan's selection as the VP candidate in 2008-2009.
Little snowflake just outed himself.
Well, since the definition of Patriot among Trump-devotees is pro-Trump vs not-pro-Trump (kind of like how all Good is assigned to God and all evil is assigned to Satan), it makes it pretty easy to crow about “flushing out the treacherous.” It doesn’t make it any less similar to exactly what every Leftist Revolution does after its takeover. You might want to think about that.
I’d love to see either one of them Veep. They are worth their weight in gold.
If Paul Ryan is a conservative, I’m turning in my conservative membership card.
‘Instead, they seem to still be groveling and worshipping his toenail clippings.’
I wanted to comment on this statement, but honestly it’s too stupid to warrant comment. All I can say is that it sounds like something a DUer would post—and feel very proud and special about, for having dreamed it up.
SMH.
but obama did not?
They sure have a different scale of fear than the people out here... obama should have been vetted... obama should not have been elected.... obama should have been impeached.... obama broke laws, made his own ‘laws’, cause havoc everywhere... not just here, but world wide..
and that did not scare them to death? they are warped to the core!
Mike Lee, from Utah, was hoping to be in Romney’s cabinet. Aww, too bad, Mike. You missed the train.
He’s scared to death? Did Mike Lee say this about Obama back in ‘08?
‘FReerepublic was ecstatic over Ryan’s selection as the VP candidate in 2008-2009.’
No chance, obviously, that people have learned more about Ryan in the SEVEN intervening years.
And the other area is the lucrative resettlement of the refugees and illegal aliens. Billions of dollars are involved.
Help Refugees, but Stop Feeding the Refugee-Resettlement Industry
Each refugee receives from the State Department an initial grant of $1,975, of which the local resettlement contractor may keep $750, to cover a couple of months' worth of furnished housing, food, clothing, and other immediate necessities. The resettlement contractors help refugees find jobs but also make sure they sign up for longer-term traditional welfare benefits for which they are immediately eligible, such as food stamps, public housing, cash assistance, health care, and child care. In addition, the Department of Health and Human Services doles out approximately $1.5 billion in grants to state and local agencies, schools, and non-profits for refugee-oriented support programs, such as legal advocacy, language education, mental-health services, domestic-violence prevention, and follow-on immigration-application assistance.
