Trump hints that Fallin and Brewer on VP short list
The Hill ^ | May 11, 2016 | Harper Neidig

Posted on 05/12/2016 5:56:35 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Donald Trump said on Wednesday that former Ariz. Gov. Jan Brewer and Okla. Gov. Mary Fallin are both on his shortlist for running mate.

“Well also Jan. Jan Brewer has been fantastic,” he said. “She has been so fantastic. You know I won so big, her territory, we won so big. And she is a fabulous woman. And I agree with you, the governor of Oklahoma -- fabulous person.”

When asked whether Chris Christie is still in the running as a possible vice president pick, Trump declined to give a straight answer, opting to praise the New Jersey governor.

“I don’t want to say 'in there,' but he’s helping me and he was an early endorsement and a very enthusiastic one and he’s a friend of mine and a very good guy and a talented guy and he’s helping us a lot," Trump said.

He said there were between five and seven people under consideration to be his VP and that he will make the announcement at the convention this summer.

I prefer Santorum to Huckabee because Huckabee pardoned those murderers who killed again in WA State. But Huckabee is an excellent debater; Santorum is good at debate too and is closer to the Trump philosophy than most of the others mentioned as potential VP choices.

I totally agree, also as a woman. Trump does not need a woman VP; he needs someone like Jeff Sessions or Newt - tho Newt is a bit long in the tooth, and I can say that cuz I’m 76.

Thing is, we got our choice. The next choice is his.

I think he meant elected as the sitting VP.

He may have meant that, but that is to arbitrarily reduce the impact that the VP choice in fact has by about 90%, if the 20th century (led by the inspirer of your screen name) is to be used as a yardstick. If he did it consciously, the arbitrariness needs to be justified, and if he did it unconsciously, then he needs to study more history.

DJT has indicated that what he is looking for is someone who can assist him with getting legislation passed, AND, someone who could step in and take over, should something (God forbid) happen requiring that scenario.

He didn’t mention a candidate’s ability to carry particular states as criteria he is considering.

I’m with you... there may be a role for Brewer, but not VP. Don’t know enough about Fallin, and am not sure she knows her way around the thicket that is Washington, tho I think with Newt as Chief of Staff that might just work.

As an oldster myself I want to see someone younger in the VP slot, someone who’d be fresh blood, and hopefully around long enough to inspire a younger generation. Unfortunately, most of the young GOPsters are not impressive. The anticipated rising starts, Rubio, Cruz and Ryan, have all flamed out.

besides I’ve been a bit pi$$ed that they took Andrea T. off the show...

I also miss seeing Andrea Tantaros on Outnumbered (and other FNC shows). I've done some searches to see what's going on with her. This is all I could find:

Andrea Tantaros Won't be on Fox News, for Now (4/27/16)

I hope she'll be back on FNC at some point.

Not wanting to beat your dead horse but...

Could you support and vote for a Trump/Palin ticket in 2016?

I agree, onyx! Trump already has the woman vote. I’d hate to see someone chosen simply because they’re the “right” gender! I want the very BEST, most qualified candidate for VP!

The electoral college is always an issue for winning.

My first choice is Newt. I keep hoping it will be him. I keep thinking it will be Kasich.

I believe the Electoral College delegates cast their votes to reflect the popular vote, but with this election cycle, nothing would surprise me ; ) The Globalists are no doubt busy at work trying to subvert the will of the People using this EC opportunity.

DJT is an expert at winning, and I trust his winning, strategical judgment. If he doesn’t win, no one else could have won. As he says, and as we as a People are realizing, the system is rigged. Whether it is rigged beyond repair is the million dollar question : )

State laws and perhaps federal law, too, require electors to cast their ballots in the electoral college for the winner of their state’s popular vote. I don’t have a link for that at the moment, and I don’t have the time to look it up. Whether law or not (and I think it is), it IS the expectation.

So, while there are a number of considerations of importance, electoral votes is also on the list. If candidates A&B are equally qualified elsewhere and candidate A has no chance of bringing electoral votes in addition to those expected and candidate B has a good chance to bring unexpected electoral votes, then that would put a Star* in that candidate’s decision matrix column.

At least it would for me.
