Moscow meda claims terrifying weapon can dodge radar defences and bring destruction to an area the size of 'Texas or France'

Russia is preparing to test-fire a nuclear weapon which is so powerful it could reportedly destroy a whole country in seconds.

The "Satan 2" missile is rumoured to be the most powerful ever designed and is equipped with stealth technology to help it dodge enemy radar systems .

This terrifying doomsday weapon is likely to strike fear into the hearts of Western military chiefs, as current missile defence technology is totally incapable of stopping it.

Its official name is the RS-28 Sarmat and it will replace aging Soviet R-36M missiles, which NATO military experts nicknamed "Satan".

"In this sense, the Sarmat missile will not only become the R-36M's successor, but also to some extent it will determine in which direction nuclear deterrence in the world will develop," the Russian news network Zvezda reported .

The missile is expected to be capable of delivering up to a dozen warheads, allowing to effectively destroy an area the "size of Texas or France", the broadcaster continued.

It is expected to have a range of 10,000 km, allowing Moscow to attack European cities including London as well as major cities on America's west and east coasts.

Seems doubtful that you can make an ICBM stealthy given the launch detection systems out there and heat signature.

Regardless, it’s time to upgrade our ICBMs. The SLBM’s are still good, but the ground based leg is awful.

I’d also work out a treaty for some testing to make sure these old things still work.

Texas has just under 270,000 square miles to it. I’m calling bovine ordure on this one. If they want to impress me any they’re going to have to test it on...oh, I dunno...Mecca. Yeah, they test it successfully on Mecca and I’ll sent a written apology.

“The missile is expected to be capable of delivering up to a dozen warheads”

No problem here, we have a treaty and they can only have so many warheads. In fact I believe we have removed many of the MIRV warheads from ours so they only carry 4 now. All his excellency has to do now is amend the treaty and tell the Ruskies they can only have 2 or less on any missile, problem solved.

Thanks, Vlad; we’ve got this. We’re destroying America on our own just fine.

Have the Ruskies been destroying their own coal/energy industry or building windmills all over the place?

Or do they have "trons...trensdgand...trends drag queen bathrooms?

Yeah, I didn't think so!

Oh, don't worry. They've known about it for a long time.

as current missile defence technology is totally incapable of stopping it

Umm...maybe.

My suggestion: we contract with the Russians for 50 of them for ourselves. We can gettum cheap and besides, that big of an order will bog down the companies building it, and keep them occupied for at least a decade.

Unless you didn’t use a missile. A projectile from a rail gun would do the trick.

"For today's lesson to the Americans about the incredible size superiority to the Soviets, lets put the Longhorn anti-Leninists of Texas in their place. Ha ha ha ha....So long Lone Star state. You look like a tiny star set against a vast colossal sky of Mother Russia. Ha"
