Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on Saturday took to Twitter to praise workers in the Teamster union and attack Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.
The union has not made an endorsement in the election so far, but typically backs Democratic candidates. Trump appeared to be referring to a series of "Teamsters for Trump" groups on Facebook, several of which has members numbering in the thousands.
NPR reported this week on Teamsters member who normally back Democrats but prefer Trump this election.

Teamsters would be foolish not to support Trump.
Of course, this is a strange, strange year.
I guess that doing the ultimate number on their management (regulating them out of existence) didn’t serve Teamsters all that well after all!
All union and no company. Like all dressed up and nowhere to go.
Reagan was endorsed by the Teamsters, but like many US institutions, it was a much different organization back then.
Teamsters for Trump will more than offset a few stray Principled Conservatives for Hillary.
No jobs, no union.

Thanks for the post. It’s illuminating to read the comments after the article.
In before the “See, see Trump’s already turning into a liberal! That’s it, I’m voting for Hillary!” GOPe wing of FR.
Those anti-Trump Republicans are not really Conservative--not if they turn their back on a winner who stands for the unfettered continuation of the political societies that the Founding Fathers created in America. I understand the hissy fits, the badly bruised egos, the humiliation after having been exposed as intellectually naked, weak vessels intimidated by "politically correct" bullies. However, there is nothing Conservative about that--nothing--whatsoever. They will either get over their childish pique, and stand with us for America, or be damned.
For all who understand what is at stake: Onward! Upward! We seek not personal benefit, but the right to keep the American experience alive for the Americans. Damn those who would vilify us! Full speed ahead!
More proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.
Breaking the rules, again
Love it
Whatever the differences to which you refer, the individual members of the Teamsters Union have usually been more Conservative than most of the more easily intimidated Corporate Middle Management types, who are much more likely to be cowed by the “politically correct” bullies, who also still hold sway over the “Never/Trump” breed of “Republicans.”
The Teamsters could be useful in hauling illegals back to Mexico.
I read that Vincente Fox endorsed Hillary. Is he a secret Trump agent or what?
Once upon a time, the “Team” was a lot of blue collar guys like truck drivers.
Now it’s much more “diverse” with a LOT of public employees.
They won’t because the are married to the Democrats, but the Rank and File will join Trump like during the Reagan era.
Trump needs to put pressure to n his union supporters to cut off funds to the DNC.
They’d love it if he would raise the minimum wage, since that tends to bump union contracts up automatically.
All union members should take a look at the coal miners in West Virginia and the Democratic Party. Your job is as good as the next cause they support. If your job is affected by it you are expendable. Your union thugs tell you to vote for these people but your common sense should tell you otherwise.
Want the Teamsters? Here's the slogan:Drill the ANWR!
