Newt Gingrich: Trump Could Be ‘The Most Effective Anti-Left Leader in Our Lifetime’ (VIDEO)
Gateway Pundit ^ | 05/03/2016 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 05/03/2016 8:00:40 PM PDT by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle

Newt Gingrich went on with Sean Hannity tonight after the Donald Trump’s Indiana blowout and after Ted Cruz suspended his campaign.

Newt argued that Donald Trump could be the “the most effective anti-left leader in our lifetime.”

Newt added that anyone who does not support Trump is supporting Hillary.

First of all, Donald Trump may turn out to be the most effective anti-left leader in our lifetime. He is against political correctness. He is against bureaucracy. He places American nationalism first which I think we desperately need. I’m tired of being told we have to phony agreements and phony efforts and I watch John Kerry rush from five-star hotel to five-star hotel trying to get a phony peace agreement that is an absurdity… I think Trump could be a return to a more of an Eisenhower kind of realism that none-the-less is conservatism. And he may do more to dismantle the left than anybody in our lifetime… The other side is, if you’re not for Donald Trump, you’re effectively for Hillary Clinton.

——How do you write an executive order that stops “political correctness?”-—

An executive order is not necessary. Ordinary speech day in day out that disparages PC will quickly catch on and maim the PC out of the language

Didn’t Mr. Trump say he wanted a Veep who could navigate his way around Congress (paraphrasing)? Seems to me that would be Newt.

And Christie for USAG.

“If Trump does nothing more with his presidency than shatter the stranglehold of political correctness he will have made a major contribution towards any hope of ever restoring this nation to what our founders intended it to be.”

Absolutely. Agree 100%.

Newt wasn't much of a presidential candidate for various reasons (some beyond his control, some due to bad choices) but he understands politics on a gut level. He sees in Trump a super charged version of himself - a ruthless fighter who will do what it takes to win. There's a reason why it was Newt who took congress from the Democrats after 42 years, not Bob Dole. It's the same reason Trump is going to smash Hillary like the Hulk smashed Loki. He knows he's in a fight and he doesn't hold back.

I don’t see political correctness as the driving force for amnesty. It’s Democrats who want the votes and some Republicans who want the cheap labor. Political correctness could be non-existent and the amnesty issue would still be the same.

Political correctness is the weapon that stops people from speaking out against amnesty for fear of being branded with the leftist's mark of Cain: Racist!

Trump has smashed that by refusing to apologize for his comments on Mexican rapists. That statement and his refusal to back down on it are why he's the presumptive nominee.

Any Republican or conservative who devotes a moment of thought to whether the left will call them racist, sexist or homophobic is neutered.

We've had enough eunuchs. Time to vote for a man.

“How do you write an executive order that stops ‘political correctness?’”

You laugh out loud at the premise instead of giving it credibility through acceptance and discussion. (Transgender men in a lady's bathroom? HA HA HA, dismissed!") I used to keep a gold handled rubber stamp on my desk in plain view. Beside it a ready ink pad. If a stupid idea hit my desk, it became the victim of my rubber stamp, it printed "B.S." If you could get past my BS stamp, we could have a discussion. But screwy ideas stopped. Also much better arguments for new ideas emerged.

Newt couldn’t even handle that pressure which was put on him for having an affair. He’s not in the same league as Donald Trump.

Well you have to ask yourself then......

Why didn't your Conservative Savior win?

The Cruz supporters have been preaching the sermon for months that "Conservatism Wins All."

And yet he lost big time.

Do you have any self reflection? Ask yourself:

"Ted Cruz is the personification of Conservatism, but he lost. Why?"

I don't hate Cruz. I like his ideology. But he has zero charisma or sales pitch. He would have been a disaster.

American "Conservatism" has morphed into such a weirdo philosophy that I don't think any of its followers have the capacity to win anything. They not only don't know how to fight effectively, but seek to avoid fighting to remain polite.

The PERFECT example of this is the other day when Cruz wanted to debate the Trump supporters in the street.

That was absolutely EMBARRASSING. What the hell was he thinking? He wanted to DEBATE a group of protesters?

There is a LOT that goes into winning in the political arena. Ideology is just ONE facet that is required.

You can't be completely incompetent with the media, image, message, slogans, optics, personality, charisma, and attack strategy.

My goodness, Donald Trump labeled him as "Lyin' Ted", an illegal alien Canadian, and there were stories out there about him having affairs, and that his dad was involved with the Kennedy assassination!!!!

That was just from a presidential primary election, when he was going against other Republicans! He couldn't defend himself.

What the hell do you think the DEMOCRATS would do to him?

I've been saying it since last year. President Ted Cruz would be completely marginalized in about a month from a constant onslaught of "racist! sexist! bigot! hater!" etc etc.

And his only response would be to pathetically explain it away. "I'm not a racist, let me debate you on that. Exhibit A......"

Cruz constantly talked about the Constitution. When there are 100 million Americans out of work, do you think they give a rat's ass about the Constitution?

Do you think Trump would have somebody like Glenn Beck at his rallies making a fool of himself?

There are many reasons why Cruz lost. It wasn't his Conservative credentials.

It's predictable they will stay home, and has been since 1984.

That's a valid point. Are evangelicals more or less rigid in their thinking than the "But he invited Hillary to his wedding!" purists? I don't know the answer.

They can be persuaded, I think. It depends upon their leadership, can THEY be persuaded to think strategically. What effect has living under eight years of occupation had on their vision? I believe there's room for optimism.

A FReeper up the thread likened our current state to being lost in the woods. I think of it as a hundred year war, and that may be the optimist in me speaking. We won't taste total victory in the next four or eight years.

What are the first steps? What are the big guns, the most devastating weapons turned on us? PC and open borders, employed by the Uniparty and the MSM. If Trump manages to turn the tide on those, his presidency will be judged a spectacular success.

He has the skill and the will. I recognized early on that his most determined enemies would be on this side of the aisle (if that term even means anything anymore.) The greatest fury of the GOPee is saved for those who would usurp their power and privilege. That threat comes from the right.

Newt is a brilliant guy, no doubt. He's also politically toxic.

Most definitely a political adviser.

I saw your post 22, and appreciate the sentiment. I’m just sick of seeing the oft-repeated canard. One can hardly blame the customers for a restaurant’s failure when the menu consists of a sh_t sandwich.

Romney threw the election when he refused to seize the advantage. He rose when he attacked, and he failed when he wimped out. The public’s anger has only risen, and Trump has grabbed the banner of resistance.
