Ted Cruz -- attempting to hold on to the narrowing possibility that he can wrest the GOP nomination away from front-runner Donald Trump -- faces a crucial Indiana primary on Tuesday. Meanwhile, and perhaps ominously for Cruz, he has run into headwinds among Republicans at the national level. His image has essentially nosedived over the past week or two, while Trump's image has become more positive.
Republicans' views of Cruz are now the worst in Gallup's history of tracking the Texas senator. His image among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents is at 39% favorable and 45% unfavorable, based on April 24-30 interviewing, for a net favorable score of -6. The last few days have marked the first time we have seen Cruz's image underwater since we began daily tracking in July.

He seems to turn people “Off.”
I think the plummet is due to Cruz stretching out the race and apparently wanting a brokered convention. I voted for Cruz in the Texas primary, but it's over now and Ted needs to drop out and support the presumptive nominee.
Trump must be doing well.. The Cruz bots aren’t posting as much.
Trump's core ideology is "winning". Now, we have to define winning. The only thing we really have is a firm demonstration of what losing is. If the opposite is winning, then I think we are going to be fine since he doesn't have a warped vision of things being "great" like Hillary thinks they are.
Also, I believe core to "winning" is a National identity. It is the USA and it's people That currently are not winning. Winning then is couched in his "What is in America's Best Interest First" commitment. When the end brings a result that is superior to the American people versus other alternatives, WE "win".
Also core to the thought of "winning" is a fair game, a level field. That is a core ideology of Trump's. I believe all of these Trump will bring. But I agree with you that advisers will play a very important role, and I hope that Trump surrounds himself with a very competent and conservative team.
Great metaphor. Ted's strategy took him as far as it could. I think his strategic error was trying to "out-Trump" Trump. We like a good fight in Texas, but it's not blood sport like it is in NY & NJ. I mean, why in the heck are all of these North Easterners moving to Texas?
I appreciate that Ted's fighting until someone reaches 1237, I expect nothing less from him. To quit before the game is over is very unZaglike to me.
Morning Joe played that clip of Ted jousting with the Trump supporter yesterday, about 7 minutes. IMHO, that's 7 less minutes for them to focus on Trump and his joking about Carly's fall, and linking Ted's dad to Oswald. Not very presidential, if you ask me (I know, Trumpeteers didn't ask me, they've got all the answers...lol).
I was thinking the same thing. And he does qualify for the bronze medal!!
exactly!
If Cruz is so brilliant, we will soon find out as he MUST suspend his candidacy tonight.
I’m seeing the Cruz Crash phenomenon as the difference between the outer persona versus the inner one. Whereas Trump projects a bully persona, Cruz initially staged himself as the intellectual Constitutional Scholar. But little by little, Cruz’ inner bully came out. And the difference between the crafted persona and his actions couldn’t be more vast.
What the hell happened? I think Cruz was always that way - he just didn’t have the strength of will to lock up his inner bully forever.
Ron Paul was right when he said on CNN this morning that Cruz is an out and out “Theocrat”!
Bragging about stealing delegates is what did Cruz in.
This is one of those occasions when I agree with Ron Paul.
"Electable" is a code word for "can carry the ball past the media's goal-line stand". And if the media-ocres are saying that people are going to Trump because of wanting to side with the "winner", well, there ya go. That means, in their minds, he's already got past them. In no other case would they allow the word "winner" to appear in such a context.
People finally realized that Cruz was just a slick Harvard lawyer, and nothing was beneath him. Sure took long enough.
“Cruz is an out and out ‘Theocrat’!”
Ron Paul nailed it.
Beck just said if Indiana goes for Trump it proves the heartland of America has “fundamentally transformed.” Someone else said he said earlier he’d be on suicide watch if Cruz loses tonight?
My God man, he’s already lost! What is wrong with people?
Well I guess Beck will be on the air Wed. morning telling Americans how much he hates us so he can finish his plummet into the toilet.
The people around him are either failing him greatly or are as loony as he his. He probably should be on suicide watch.
Glenn Beck: "Tell me another time in our nation's history that you have witnessed where Indiana matters."
Fasting again and Stabbing with Kruz Krazy Beck!
The fasting, the prayers to ban Trump, the stabbing, and the firing of Becks employees will continue until $cruz wins as per Becks interpretation of our constitution and bible!
“I don’t think anything happened to him. Rather, the vetting process of the primary season has been long enough to see who he really is.”
I would agree. The long, drawn out primary process has done its job and vetted the candidates. Cruz’s true character was exposed for all to see: a too-clever-by-half, East coast, Ivy League lawyer (and all that implies); and a longtime, concealed but true member of the GOPe. And it exposed the fact that senators generally make poor leaders, especially first-term senators, when push comes to shove.
I promise to watch if Beck commits suicide. That’s basically the same thing, isn’t it...? ;)
