Chris Hayes has established a new standard. It is henceforth fair game to say on national TV of any parent who has spanked his child that such parent "hits his kids." Hayes employed the inflammatory formulation on his MSNBC show this evening. Hayes played a clip of a child in a Cruz audience telling him "you suck" and Cruz responding "in my household, when a child behaves that way, they get a spanking." Proclaimed Hayes portentously: "I should note it's a matter of public record by Ted Cruz that he hits his kids."
Okay then, so Hayes has equated a spank, which can be more symbolic than real, with a "hit." Would Hayes encourage the next reporter who interviews Hillary to ask if she ever spanked her daughter, or was ever spanked herself, and in any case how she views the issue? What about Barack and Michelle Obama? This is absurd--and despicable.

True enough. When one of our daughters did something, I can’t recall what, that warranted a slap I grabbed her hand and overlaid it with my own and gave it a hard loud whack. She screamed bloody murder and cried for about ten seconds before she realized I’d hit my hand and not hers. She still got the point. The main thing is humans aren’t born civilized. They require correction.
We’ve seen what’s happened to the generations who haven’t been spanked.
It’s not a positive result.
This would be a nonstory if there weren’t the multiple videos of the little girls running and turning from him and if he hadn’t told the story on national TV about having to chase them around the living room until he catches them in order to get affection from them.

.... My guess is that Cruz supporters more than likely would portray Trump as the spawn of the Devil and demand a public exorcism and or flogging and Trump supporters would more than likely be giggling uncontrollably and having orgasms of delight of some sort.
I no longer support Cruz, but I agree with him 100% on spanking your kids when they’re naughty like this kid clearly was. I was watching Fox and saw how little Hispanic kids in California were shouting ‘f-— you’ and giving the finger to Trump and I can think of nothing better than a good hiding for such kids.
My bet is that Chris Hayes pays to be spanked.
