The Washington Post published an article listing five candidates likely to be considered to be Trump's vice president. U.S. Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa is on that list.
Ernst is Iowa's first female U.S. Senator. Ernst was not well known When she ran for the senate seat vacated by the retiring Tom Harkin.
KWWL-TV caught up with Ernst and asked if she would consider serving as Donald Trump's vice president. "I would say, 'did my mother pay you to say that?', Ernst said. "But, no. I would have to consider it, but I love what I do in the United States Senate, and I love working with Iowans."
Ernst says she hasn't heard from the Trump campaign. She says she won't endorse a candidate anytime soon.

I think she's a good choice...

A Vet and a Conservative. And as a woman, she takes the “war on women” argument from Hillary. Works for me.

After college Ernst joined the military where she has served as a member of either the U.S. Army Reserves or the Iowa Army National Guard for the past 23 years. Ernst holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and she served in Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom. ...https://www.conservativereview.com/members/joni-ernst/

First term Senator? Trump needs someone who knows the ins-and-outs of DC. He needs a conservative LBJ.

I really like the idea of someone with a military background being a vp pick.

she takes the war on women argument from Hillary. What "War on Women" argument does Hillary have? That feeble effort by Hillary/Demorats was blown out of the water by Trump several months ago.

“Joni” is “alright” as a JUNIOR US Senator, HOWEVER She DOES have a Minor RINO/Gop-e Streak to her she probably wouldn’t bring much to the ticket.

Senator Joni Ernst would be a fine addition to the Trump Administration, however I think her talents would be better utilized as Secretary of the Army, considering that she has 23 years service, served as a company commander during the Iraq War, a lot of logistics experience with the Iowa National Guard.
Having said that, I'm sticking with my first choice for VP for Trump, which is Congressman Duncan D. Hunter of California, likewise a veteran, combat experience, has been a solid supporter of Trump, and just like his Dad, a solid Reagan-style Republican.

And I wish people would get off this Must be a female kick. The BEST person for the job should be the ONLY thing that matters! I understand, but and identity politics is real, whether we want to accept it or not. All other factors being equal, a woman pick for VP can get more votes than a man, especially if Hillary is the Dems' choice.
