The Washington Post published an article listing five candidates likely to be considered to be Trump's vice president. U.S. Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa is on that list.
Ernst is Iowa's first female U.S. Senator. Ernst was not well known When she ran for the senate seat vacated by the retiring Tom Harkin.
KWWL-TV caught up with Ernst and asked if she would consider serving as Donald Trump's vice president. "I would say, 'did my mother pay you to say that?', Ernst said. "But, no. I would have to consider it, but I love what I do in the United States Senate, and I love working with Iowans."
Ernst says she hasn't heard from the Trump campaign. She says she won't endorse a candidate anytime soon.

Someone with a military background would make the lefties heads explode in anger
Duncan Hunter, Allen West
Cruz = imbecile
Haley is as ineligible as Rubio, Jindal and Cruz.
Ayotte is a Cheap Labor Express stooge.
Rice is not interested.
Martinez has had some issues recently.
Bachman, maybe.
I just don’t see a female candidate that is suited. Palin would turn off the cross overs.
I think it’s going to be a guy. Let Hillary play the sex card all she wants. If he can get half the women to campaign for him.
Problem is Cruz.
Maybe Trump should pick Ivanka for VP. She will be 35 before the inauguration.
I don’t know if I am kidding or not.
He would have made a good President IF he could get elected. He tried in 2008, and his campaign went nowhere. Try again.
Allen West
If he is interested in being Trump's running mate then maybe, but what does he bring to the table that Ernst doesn't?
Duncan Hunter’s son, Duncan Hunter. What qualification does Ernst have that is better than Hunter’s. By the way, Hunter is a MARINE!
I am speaking of the member of the Armed Services Committee who led the drive to exonerate our hero soldier. He was about to be discharged by the bad ass people in Washington for protecting a boy from a rapist. THAT Duncan Hunter.
Unfortunately there seems to be a pattern to those bastards in Washington because they went after Allen West for threatening an enemy and getting the information that saved the lives of his men. American soldier’s lives don’t count with these Politically Correct freaks. Allen resigned rather than give them the satisfaction of beating him into submission. He was correct in doing so.
I like many of Joni’s positions and was happy with her election. I don’t think, however, she puts either Hunter or West in any shadow. I’d hate to see her play the “sex” card.
Ugh. I voted for Joni before and I would again.
But, just listen to her sometime. Every time she opens her mouth, I half expect her to say she can see Russia from her back porch. The media would crucify her.
Is that Duncan Hunter in the running?
I like many of Jonis positions and was happy with her election.
We agree.
I dont think, however, she puts either Hunter or West in any shadow. Id hate to see her play the sex card.
Unfortunately not everyone sees it that way. We need to (legally) pull out all of the stops and win this, because we may not get another chance.
Duncan Hunter may very well be in the running. We don’t know, but we do know Hunter endorsed Trump a long time ago, against the political winds at the time.
I frankly think pulling out all the stops is cowtowing to the politically correct and we don’t need that stigma. IMHO Trump has already won. He will tear Hillary to shreds.
I don’t think Joni is capable of running the country. I want a strong MAN behind that desk in the Oval Office if anything happens to Trump.
I say that as a strong, independent, intelligent woman.
Says it all.
Yes it does. You obviously want a female simply because that’s what the democrats and Cruzites are doing so you think Trump should follow the lead. Sorry, but I don’t think Trump is inclined to “follow” anyone. If he picks a female, it will be surprising to me ...........and it will certainly be someone very well qualified that I have not thought about.
It might come as a surprise to you, but strong women like strong men. They do not like wimps, only the Barbie Dolls do.
No, I want a woman because I believe it will improve our chances of winning.
If he picks a female, it will be surprising to me ...........and it will certainly be someone very well qualified that I have not thought about.
I'm not sure what else a combat Vet has to do to prove herself to you, besides being born male.

Does liking strong men mean rejecting women just because they are women?
Does liking women negate strong men just because they are strong men?
BOTH men I submitted to you, Duncan Hunter and Allen West are COMBAT VETS with SEVERAL TOURS and strong men. Are they to be eliminated because they were born with balls instead of a vagina? Allen West is also Black. Does that make him a better choice than Ernst, who is white?
What do you not understand about choosing the “best person for the job?” Playing the feminazi game has no appeal for me.
Nope. As I've said before, I'll support whoever gets the nod. I was hoping we could nominate a woman. That didn't happen, and we'll get likely get Trump. If that's how it turns out, that's who I'll support.

McCain was also a combat Vet, but who was elected?
Allen West is also Black. Does that make him a better choice than Ernst, who is white?
No, they're both good choices.
What do you not understand about choosing the best person for the job?
The part where you demonstrated where Ernst would not be the best person for the job.
Playing the feminazi game has no appeal for me.
Good, but you're not the only one voting for our next President in November.
Neither are you, and I’ll remind you McCain was the republican nominee. He lost even with Sarah Palin on the ticket.
Yes, but I'm not the one posting as if everyone agrees with my POV.
and Ill remind you McCain was the republican nominee.
Yes, a male combat vet.
He lost even with Sarah Palin on the ticket.
That's actually a good point. The majority of women still voted for Obama in 2008, but a lot of that had to do with anger at Bush, and the economy that the MSM successfully blamed Bush for.
About as long as it takes for a party boss to show you a blackmail packet, with manufactured “evidence” if necessary.
