Donald Trumps damage to the Republican Party, although already extensive, has barely begun. Republican quislings will multiply, slinking into support of the most anti-conservative presidential aspirant in their partys history. These collaborationists will render themselves ineligible to participate in the partys reconstruction.
Ted Cruzs announcement of his preferred running mate has enhanced the nomination process by giving voters pertinent information. They already know the only important thing about Trumps choice: His running mate will be unqualified for high office because he or she will think Trump is qualified.
Hillary Clintons optimal running mate might be Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio, a pro-labor populist whose selection would be balm for the bruised feelings of Bernie Sanderss legions. Running mates rarely matter as electoral factors: In 2000, Al Gore got 43.2 percent of the North Carolina vote. In 2004, John Kerry, trying to improve upon Gores total there, ran with North Carolina Sen. John Edwards but received 43.6 percent. If, however, Brown were to help deliver Ohio for Clinton, the Republican path to 270 electoral votes would be narrower than a needles eye. [SNIP]
Trump would be the most unpopular nominee ever, unable to even come close to Mitt Romneys insufficient support among women, minorities and young people. In losing disastrously, Trump probably would create down-ballot carnage sufficient to end even Republican control of the House. Ticket splitting is becoming rare in polarized America: In 2012, only 5.7 percent of voters supported a presidential candidate and a congressional candidate of opposite parties.

They are still trying to convince us illegal aliens pouring across the border is a good thing and Trump and anyone else that doesn’t think so is racist. We are supposed to ignore our lying eyes.
Will sounds as dumb as Levin at this point.
I feel the kind of sentiment that can only be properly expressed in German.

Surely they haven't all gone insane. ??
Why?
Because they all get to play big shot and make tons of money for nothing and they don't want Trump to step on their sweet gig
After all, they have bills to pay and Washington ain't cheap
Ha! Good one!
I still expect Cankles to be our next Prez.
Because the elites want her is a given.
If Trump somehow beats the odds, I will be pleasantly surprised.
Will is mentally ill. IMO. He has a serious disorder.
Just bizarre. What planet are these GOPe folks on?
While Trump was busy making money managing a successful company, employing thousands, and building things, George Will was writing pointless articles for a living. Will’s opinion on who is qualified to be President, and who is not is meaningless.
George to become baseball sports writer and will leave politics to other Neocons.
Had always had it. Trump brought it out. Like he did with a lot of people.
It is strange to find out that these 'constitutional conservatives' that I believed in are nothing but GOP hacks intent on keeping the tag-team Dem/Rep party power going.
I had no idea that George Will was writing satire, bad satire at that. I suppose that The Donald could reside at the forthcoming new Trump Hotel just a few blocks away from the White House if that would make Mr. Will feel better.
I truly believe most of those that say they will never vote for Trump are supporters of open borders and illegal aliens pouring in.
There has been major deep pockets fierce resistance to any attempt to secure the border and enforce our immigration laws for decades no matter who is President.
People ask me why I believe Trump will secure the border and deport illegals. I tell them to look and listen to those who are worried that he will. Supporters of open borders believe he will do what he says.
When other politicians have assured us they would deal with the border issues they did not face this type of backlash, it was clear to those that support open borders they did not intend to do it.
I did not think I could say this about anyone; however, George Will is more deranged than Mark Levin.
Another ally of the Cruz folks.
Gosh this is great, just watching them line up for anti-Trump hysteria.
George Willary has spoken.
