The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today urged presidential candidate Donald Trump to reconsider his use of the phrase “America First” as a slogan describing his approach to foreign affairs, citing its anti-Semitic use in the months before Pearl Harbor by a group of prominent Americans seeking to keep the nation out of World War II.
The most noteworthy leader of the “America First Committee” was Charles Lindbergh, who sympathized with the Nazis and whose rhetoric was characterized by anti-Semitism and offensive stereotypes, including assertions that Jews posed a threat to the U.S. because of their influence in motion pictures, radio, the press, and the government.
“The undercurrents of anti-Semitism and bigotry that characterized the America First movement – including the assumption that Jews who opposed the movement had their own agenda and were not acting in America’s best interest – is fortunately not a major concern today,” said Jonathan A. Greenblatt, ADL CEO. “However, for many Americans, the term ‘America First’ will always be associated with and tainted by this history. In a political season that already has prompted a national conversation about civility and tolerance, choosing a call to action historically associated with incivility and intolerance seems ill-advised.”
In a letter to Mr. Trump, ADL urged him to refrain from using the slogan in the future.
As a 501(c) (3) organization, ADL does not support or oppose candidates for public office.
So I suppose the creator of the first America First foreign policy, George Washington, is offensive to ADL.

If ADL doesn’t like the word “America” and “First” in the same sentence, they can go to HELL!
the last four presidents did not put America first and we can all now see and are feeling the cost of those kind of presidents. I don’t care if a monkey is in the WH as long as it puts the US first and foremost in everything.

Screw it. Trump has the strongest stance against ISIS and other genocidal Muslims who want to mass murder Jews and other infidels. Look to the future, not the past, and stop trying to make important free speech taboo.

I, too, cringed a bit when I heard the phrase “America First”, because I am a passionate student of History, especially the WW2 Era, and that is what came to mind.
But then I thought about it. Indeed, I would WANT the President of my Country to consider my country FIRST when making decisions. The present occupant of the Oval Office is doing the exact opposite, and has been since his first year and the “Apology Tour”. The “Lyin’ King” hates America, and ALWAYS considers “America LAST” in his decision and policy making.
I hate it when perfectly good language and symbols are co-opted by evil people. The most egregious of these is, of course, the RAINBOW, which used to be a symbol of hope, optimism, and originated as a symbol of God’s Covenant with Noah. The swastika was originally a Tibetan Good Luck symbol, the five-pointed star and the Cross originally symbols of Christianity. The Six-Pointed Star, instantly recognized as the Star of David, is also used as a “Hexagram” for satanist rituals.
He who controls the language controls the argument. “Gay” used to mean “Happy and Carefree”. “Diverse” used to mean division. “Tolerance” used to mean that one would “put up with something that one did not necessarily endorse”.
Maybe it’s time to reclaim our words, our language, our symbols, and our dignity.
(Oh, and “Dignity” is yet ANOTHER word they have stolen! It used to mean exactly what I am talking about, NOT “euthanasia!”)
The ADL’s a far left organization - they should be ignored...
