Although Trump seems to be making a concerted effort to appear more presidential by delivering a speech on foreign policy in Washington on April 27 and more traditional by bringing in grown-ups like veteran GOP political operative Paul Manafort, his choice of a running mate could still be as unconventional as his cant-look-away campaign has been.
Among the obvious candidates are former rivals like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who threw himself onto Trumps gold-plated bandwagon shortly after pulling out of the primary race; Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who would help in his crucial home state and possibly offset some of the Hispanic animus toward the illegal immigrant-bashing billionaire; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, an early primary dropout and former darling of conservative fat cats; and Ben Carson, the soft-spoken former neurosurgeon who has endorsed Trump and could add gravitas to the ticket plus as an African American, he might make it seem more inclusive.

I think Trump is a great supporter of Israel and I am sure he would choose a VP, who is too.
Rules don’t apply to his opponent, Hillary either
I think his people are well connected with the ingenius eccentric Willie Wonka...who could add chocolate for all kids to platform.
I remember I laughed and the audience did. I am pretty sure it was a joke. But yeah it didn’t help...
Hunter is a name many in Indiana are mentioning. Will he be with him today in CA?
Wasn’t that Curtis Le May?
Nope.
Although, that would have been a logical question to ask, having found oneself in Shinto Heaven.
I want Duncan Hunter Jr. Military Vet, could help in CA, right age, very smart, nice looking fellow, tough, speaks exceedingly well, on the right side of most issues, esp. immigration.
Trump has said that he wants to try to forge an Israeli-Palestinian peace, and if Webb is his Vice President, then I could see an executive-branch push to getting this idea implemented.
Oddly, in Trump’s foreign policy speech yesterday he said that there are some people who just don’t want to make agreements and you can’t do anything with them. Specifically, he said:
“In the Middle East our goals must be, and I mean must be, to defeat terrorists and promote regional stability, not radical change. We need to be clearsighted about the groups that will never be anything other than enemies. And believe me, we have groups that no matter what you do, they will be the enemy.: We have to be smart enough to recognize who those groups are, who those people are, and not help them. And we must only be generous to those that prove they are indeed our friends.”
Surprisingly, he did not connect those people with the Palestinians.
I understand that in his interview with Greta Van Susteren later in the day, he again advocated for an Israel-Palestinian peace and said that he regards this as a personal challenge (I have not been able to track down a quotation; maybe someone else knows where to find it).
I think that if Trump tries to push for a comprehensive Middle Eastern peace, he soon will find that the Palestinians are intractable, and he will drop the idea. However, if he has brought in Webb or someone else who shares his ideas, the comprehensive peace idea may be pushed to the extent that real damage can be done.
I hope you are right, and that Trump will not choose Webb as his Vice President.
LOL!
The price of being in the real estate business in NYC!
“So now you believe Christie is a conservative.’
Christie is as conservative as you are likely to see from New Jersey
I’m for Duncan Hunter.
Christie AG
Rudi head of the FBI
” I also like Rudy Giuliani”
Interesting thought.
No thanks on Rice. She makes moderates look conservative.
Maybe he’ll pull John McCain out of the Meth Lab business.
Dear God NO to Condi Rice. She is one of the biggest RINOs ever, and a neocon. No, just no, and he** NO
Good heavens, do your homework about Rudy in drag before accusing him of being a tranny. Trump went along with the gag.
At least we know they like each other!
I want someone who agrees with the positions Trump has expressed on the key issues: Amnesty, border security, Obamacare, and gun control. Other than that, my mind is open.
Are you kidding? Condoleezza Rice is part of GWB’s disasterous foreign policy. She’s part of the old in crowd. She has NO campaigning experience! She’s done NOTHING in support of Trump up to this point.
I really, really, like Steve Miller, who opens a lot of speeches for Trump. He is one of Jeff Session’s proteges, and Trump’s policy adviser. He is fantastic.
