Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz has tapped former technology executive Carly Fiorina as his running mate in the race for the White House.
The Texas senator plans to formally unveil his pick for vice president Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis.
That's according to a Republican with direct knowledge of the plan, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized speak before the official announcement.
Cruz is trying to generate momentum for his struggling campaign. GOP front-runner Donald Trump swept primaries in five Northeastern states on Tuesday.
Cruz has been mathematically eliminated from winning enough delegates to clinch the Republican presidential nomination before primary voting ends.
But he's pushing to claim the nomination at a contested national convention in July.
The 61-year-old Fiorina endorsed Cruz earlier in the year after abandoning her own presidential bid. The former chief executive at Hewlett-Packard has never held elected office.

Carly is a lousy choice, but then Cruz has THE absolute WORST judgement, re people, of anyone, except those who ever voted for Obama.
For someone whom Trump utterly vanquished, in ALL five states last night, this act of desperation is laughable. And yes, Trump beat Teddy by 5 and 6 times the amount of votes in all but one state in the ACELA primaries.

Ted Cruz picked up Carly to campaign with him in Indiana. Trump picked up Bobby Knight. We are going to see who that will turn out.
Living in Indiana, I’d be surprised if 30% of the voters in the R primary could even identify Snarly Carly in a lineup.

Easily the dumbest thing in primary histoir. Naming your VP when you have no chance of winning. Guess it is better than explaining why to got blown out the night before.

It could be. But Fiorina was at the helm when HP hit the rocks, the same as when she was at Lucent, so just like the manager of two losing ball clubs she gets tarred with the disasters.
You’ll run across HP alumni who have contempt for the way she had an entourage accompany her when she ran HP. They call her “Rock Star Carly’ IIRC, and they don’t mean that in a happy fashion.
This is why I don’t listen to ex-pats. They have lost touch and they don’t know what they are talking about. Already the RNC is wetting its pants over a 2nd or 3rd ballot. They know the score even if our ex-pats don’t.
