Yes, this is setting up to be potentially very dangerous. Prayers up for all in the path, including me.
OKC schools dismissed early. Western counties of Dallas/Fort Worth are cancelling after-school activities.
I’m not far from Stephenville, TX. My roof is barely a year old from a hailstorm that was a year ago, almost to the day.
That’s mostly true. I’m in Tarrant county, the hail capital of the world. I have a 40-year-old concrete tile roof, which is almost impossible to crack with brute force. Any other types like composition, slate, clay, metal, etc. are new.
Mine made it more than 20. The hail storms a few weeks ago mean that I’ll have a new one by summer. Pretty much everyone in the neighborhood is having to replace.
On the other hand, I haven’t had to water yet, and the lawn hasn’t looked this good in years following what we got last year.
Yes, I am talking about the weather channel.
I’m not surprised they jacked up my insurance. Mine’s at least 6 or 7. But you’re basically in the ballpark.

They make above ground shelters - they either take up a chunk of your garage, or you lose a walk in closet.
It looks like another chance of a major outbreak later in the week as well.
The TV folks were issuing warnings over the weekend - that’s not something they usually do that far out. I hope that that means that it will turn out to be minor.
There’s an app that lets you watch what the storm chasers are seeing. It’s pretty amazing.
This is very bad timing for the OKC area - firing along the dry line just to the west of the area at peak afternoon heating.
That was my thought too.
You outta see the numbers hail damage does every year in Colorado, tween roofs, windows, autos, and rebuild costs
Mindblowin
Thanks, but it’s more fun watching my wife have a panic attack, and then getting mad at me for not coming up with a safe place to hunker down (because there isn’t any). I always tell her, after the threat has passed, that we are both way to ornery to die in that fashion. We live on acreage and the chances of it hitting us are slim, and we experience maybe 3 threats a year at the most.
It’s Spring and time for the big storms.
Out in the middle of nowhere.....
The closest twister we've had was 7 miles from here...cut a trail thru mostly pasture/timber land. Killed some cows, horses...but no humans.
Tonight might be interesting....
The only clear view I have ever had of a tornado was while driving on the outskirts of Skiatook. As I passed near a filling station, I noticed several people out front of it looking North.
They saw me and pointed North. There across a field was a perfect funnel. Just like in the movies. That night I saw it on the news and it had just damaged some farm out buildings. No loss of life or even injuries.
It just happened to miss everything.
