A 20-year-old man is in custody after threatening to bomb Saturday’s rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in Waterbury.
At about 12:45 p.m., the United States Secret Service contacted the Connecticut State Police after seeing a threat posted on Twitter threatening to “bomb” the rally for Trump.
According to state police, the Twitter post said, “Is someone going to bomb the Trump rally or am I going to have to?”
A second Twitter post warned the suspect’s friend to have his family members leave the rally so they wouldn’t be hurt.
Detectives found that the Twitter posts came from the area of Ardsley Road in Waterbury from the account of Sean Taylor Morkys.
Morkys was located by State Police Counter Terrorism detectives, Waterbury police officers, and special agents from the United States Secret Service. He was taken into custody at about 5 p.m.
Morkys is charged with first-degree threatening, inciting injury to person or property, and second-degree breach of peace.
The Waterbury man was released on a $25,000 bond and is due in Waterbury Superior Court on May 4.
“This type of cretin makes me wonder why I even served this country in the first place. To protect that’s future birth? In the 35 years that have past this country has degraded beyond recognition. I would not do it over if I had the chance. Disgusting.”

You are right——I feel the same as this ex-serviceman at times but realize I served (WW2 for 5+ years and Normandy) to protect the future lives of my children and 40 grands and great-grands as well as the ‘nuts’ and libs’ we have ——we get the good and bad in life so we may see the difference—may God Bless my America if she deserves His Blessing

He’s plenty old to serve in the military. Guys younger than he make noble life-and-death choices every day. He needs to grow the hell up. Going easy on him will just serve to coddle him more and make him worse. I say throw the book at him, and then some. (But I could me wrong. - Sec. 53a-179a. Inciting injury to persons or property: Class C felony. Class C felonies are punishable by one to ten years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000. (Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 53a-35a, 53a-41.)
- Sec. 53a-181. Breach of the peace in the second degree: Class B misdemeanor. A class B misdemeanor is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. (Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 53a-36, 53a-42.)
I do have 3 boys, all grown and gone.
They never did anything even close to something this stupid, but seriously, should his life be ruined over this?
I don’t think that would be justice.
The kid has a future yet, someone should see to it he’s put on the right path so he can be a contributing member of society.
