Trump: I would change GOP platform on abortion

Donald Trump said Thursday he would change the Republican Party platform's position on abortion to include exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother.

Trump made the remarks during a town hall on the "Today" show on NBC on Thursday morning when host Savannah Guthrie asked him about abortion exceptions.

"The Republican platform every four years has a provision that states that the right of the unborn child should not be infringed," Guthrie said. "And it makes no exceptions for rape, for incest, for the life of the mother. Would you want to change the Republican platform to include the (abortion) exceptions that you have?"

"Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Absolutely," Trump said. "For the three exceptions, I would."

Currently, the Republican platform abortion policy reads: "We assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed."

If you run on a platform saying that an innocent girl must carry a rapist's baby, against her will, you are going to lose a lot of support. That sort of unfair use of a young girl will never be acceptable to most of us. Sorry, but it is totally out of balance.

I disagree with Trump on incest--unless it involved rape;-- but otherwise, his exceptions are only fair. To hold otherwise is to simply sacrifice all natural rights of an innocent girl.

If the right to life is denied, no other rights matter. Nor do walls, immigration policies, and taxes. Everything springs forth from the right to LIVE.

One is attainable the other isn't. The founding fathers did not want slavery codified in the constitution but recognized that was not attainable at the time.

Over half the population is female and the large majority of them are pro choice even if they say they are not.

I am convinced that any abortion is murder but I am in a small minority in the real world.
