Trump: Transgenders Should 'Use the Bathroom That They Feel Is Appropriate'

Republican Donald Trump says he'd be fine with Caitlyn Jenner using the bathroom of her choice at Trump Tower. (AP File Photo)

(CNSNews.com) - Republican Donald Trump, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said transgenders should be allowed to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate."

"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" host Matt Lauer asked Trump.

"That is correct," Trump said.

Asked for his view on the North Carolina bathroom controversy, Trump said the state has "paid a big price" for requiring transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with their biological sex.

"Leave it the way it is," he said.

"One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying 'Leave it the way it is right now.' There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and all of the strife, and that's on both sides -- you leave it the way it is.

"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the -- the economic punishment that they're taking."

AD FEEDBACK

Trump said he doesn't know if he has any transgender people working for him. "I probably do, I really don't know."

Trump noted that there's a "big move to create new bathrooms" for transgenders.

"First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."

Making an issue of an non issue that will cost the GOP negative press is stupidity.

You keep restating the premise. The issue is already out there. Trump simply acquiesced to the standard liberal opinion on it.

You have a greater chance of being killed by an illegal alien than seeing a trans person in a public restroom.

This isn't about bathrooms or mentally ill men in dresses. This is about who is going to dictate what is regarded as "normal."

Instead of being freaked out over illegals the GOPe distracts the base into being freaked out by almost by a small group of people who barely register on the problems scale.

It isn't the quantity of people involved. It is the fact that people are deliberately misleading the population about this matter, and that when they win on issues like this, it simply prepares the battleground for the next win on the next encroachment.

It is incrementalism, and it is the methodology the left has always used to advance socialism and decadence. The soviets used to say the most ridiculous things, and they did not say them because they believed them, they said them to demonstrate that they had the power to enforce their will over the populace.

Those who objected to ridiculous things which party apparatchiks would say, were rounded up and "disciplined" to the degree necessary to make them parrot the party line.

This is where we are going.

Right o the going after selling body parts for profit.
Presidents can deny funding MAYBE to parts covering abortion I would hope.
Trump did say he wanted to unfunded that part of planned parenthood. IMO that is unfunding 92% of planned parenthood.

I haven’t talked to one blue collar dem who agrees with this crap about letting men who are attracted to women in the women’s bathroom. The ones I have talked to were from New jersey. I can’t believe he didn’t take the Muslim immigration route here. Inexplicable.

Has there been a retraction or revision as of yet? If not, he is what we thought he was.

It was lost way back in 1977, when we allowed the gays to destroy Anita Bryant’s career. That was their blueprint, and it was only a matter of time.

1973, when they mobbed, badgered, extorted and threatened the members of the American Psychiatric Association into removing homosexuality from the list of Mental Disorders.

Or even earlier, when deinstitutionalization (letting all the nuts out of the nut houses) began in the 1960s. Remember, prior to the 1960s, homosexuals were locked up for being mentally ill.

I personally think that opening up the nuthouses in the 1960s is how the population of homosexuals got so large and concentrated that they could stage something like the stonewall riots. (1969)

I wonder if Palin or Sessions will have an opinion on Trump’s abortion, restroom and tax-raising platform announced today.

I imagine that the last thing that 99.9% of transgenders want to do is create a fuss in a restroom.

Do you recall why Charlotte passed that law? Was there a provoking incident?

Accept faggot-marriage? I’d happily see America die in flames first. And I’d even donate the matches to start the fire.

"Do I want Women's rest rooms to be for women? Of course. Do I want to jump all over Trump for not giving a politically correct answer? Of course not."

A PC answer is exactly what he gave. He's an ass.

Whether we accept or not is irrelevant. Gays can marry in all 50 states. That’s fact. Stomping our feet and yelling “LALALALALA’ doesn’t change that. It was a terrible loss that emboldened the left to come after nearly every social legislative gain, and they’re racking up wins.

I also believe in God and I don’t think this is my call, but apparently you think it’s yours.

What did he say that set you off so? He said, leave it as it is in NC, what’s wrong with that? Answer: Nothing.

Do you believe this should be a federal issue or a states issue?

X, I’ve tried sending the alarm that Donald Trump is not a man to be trusted and I have been ridiculed and insulted by long time Freepers who seem to think that Donald Trump is going to save America.

He has begun his hard move to the “Center” and we are all going to be disappointed that we ever supported this clown.

And yes, at one time I was a supporter. But I always had my concerns that he was not the person he has been pretending to be.

Unfortunately this side of LGBTrump has come out too late in the game. It’s game over at this time and LGBTrump is the last man standing.

May God help us.

C'mon. I thought he gave an honest answer. As President, Trump is looking at the big picture....stabilizing the population of the US, disintegrating ISIS, US jobs for US workers, upgrading the military, helping Veterans.

He's not dwelling on the social wars. I'm sure they'll be designated to others. And you know what? With the inspiration of a classy family in the WH, with high cultural and education standards, it might be what begins to turn our warped excuse for a civilization turned around.

Agents for scheming insiders want us talking about bathrooms. Every election cycle they dwell on a salacious social issue but never offer a vision or plan for turning the US around. They NEVER deliver on those issues, just keep dusting them off every election, while the cultural situation keeps getting worse. Shouldn't we be sick of being played?

Trump has taken a states rights position. Cruz blasted him for it this morning. Cruz is a nutcase whose psychosis becomes more evident as the campaign gets dragged into his godhead complex. I believe God has indeed prolonged this campaign for the purpose of exposing Cruz.

As always those smearing Trump are taking remarks out of context, and misrepresenting the actual intent. He was certainly not endorsing perverted behavior in commenting on a State issue. While I strongly disagree with what he said, it should not be misrepresented by those intent on bearing "false witness" against Trump. Nor should it be taken as a statement on Federal policy.

By the way, shouldn't those obsessed with the Trump comment, clarify what they understand "transgender" to mean? There are some people biologically confused. It is not all just a mental thing.

It is a fact. As is that because of it, I no longer have a country I care about seeing survive. Renders elections pretty moot, for the most part.
