(CNSNews.com) - Republican Donald Trump, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said transgenders should be allowed to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate."
"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" host Matt Lauer asked Trump.
"That is correct," Trump said.
Asked for his view on the North Carolina bathroom controversy, Trump said the state has "paid a big price" for requiring transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with their biological sex.
"Leave it the way it is," he said.
"One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying 'Leave it the way it is right now.' There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and all of the strife, and that's on both sides -- you leave it the way it is.
"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the -- the economic punishment that they're taking."

Trump said he doesn't know if he has any transgender people working for him. "I probably do, I really don't know."
Trump noted that there's a "big move to create new bathrooms" for transgenders.
"First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."
And when the tranny ( gender or vite) masterbates in front of your daughter and the police can’t do anything about it? What then?

My feelings on this is that a private business should set its own bathroom policy.
When it comes to public restrooms in govt owned land then keep it local and let local representative govt decide.
Conservatives go off the rails when they start to want to impose values on others. We hate values imposed on us so we should not be doing it back to the left. Our principal as conservatives is and always should be keep the govt out of it as much as possible. It is the most beautiful ideology mankind ever invented for itself.
That will make a great campaign ad in California. If social issues are front and center Cruz loses badly. Sorry.

Trump is saying keep things as they are now. Oh the humanity. It’s always been clear Trump isn’t going to die on the social issues hill. If we don’t stop the invasion nothing else matters, IMO.

I am among the last here to back Trump (as if I haven’t made that abundantly clear), but I’d like to have some additional context to this. Maybe I’m divining it incorrectly, but he sounds more like he was being dismissive to the whole matter and inferring it’s not the federal government’s role to take a position on it. What he allows in Trump Towers is his call, but this seems more like a state/local issue.
There’s no poor decision here by Trump. Trump is just saying to keep things are they are now. All the hysteria that follows will come from those trying to score political points off the safety of little boys & girls. How principled of them.
You know better than to think that about judges.
I’m convinced Anthony Kennedy will decide this is about the intrinsic value of transgenders who are people of worth, too.
You know it, and I know it.
What I get is that same sex marriage is legal in this counrty and it isn’t going away. Unless you have some kind of realistic and practical thoughts on how it’s going to be otherwise, then I think you’re the one who isn’t getting it. This battle is lost. I’ve yet to hear from anyone how Oberfell is repealed.

This whole issue is really going to come to a head right after the first couple of times someone who isn’t ‘trans’ but a dyed-in-the-wool pervert tries to molest or photograph someone’s wife, daughter, or girlfriend in the restroom. Someone IS eventually going to charge into said restroom upon hearing a scream...and the pervert in question is going to end up, as the late Jerry Clower so aptly put it, “graveyard DEAD”.
Mark my words...somewhere in America, this WILL happen. And, I have a feeling it may happen sooner rather than later.
